Seats should be here tomorrow...the column and drop are great

 

So as planned the seats arrived today, they look great and are pretty comfortable.

Heres a few photos:

 

I like the seat.It will be easy to match up upholstery later too.
(glad they're not the trendy aluminum and rivit version)

Seats are really nice, I have a color scheme of sorts coming together, I hope I can pull it off

I have the hanging wilwood reverse mount pedals. I am having a "tubular hoop" of sorts built to hang the pedals on.

I hope to get started on the floor very soon, then pull it off to finish the chassis.
I have been lurking this build for a while now... keep it up!

The seats came from the Barrett Seat Co. via Wintec Fabrication. He is handling the retail sales for them. It was a bit confusing at first but it all worked out and the seats arrived as planned. Jim at Wintec/Coolflex is super to deal with.

 

A little more work accomplished the past few days.....

More floor work:









I decided to clean the surface rust/bondo, etc away from the chop area. I already knew the chop wasn't done very well, but boy I didn't realize it was this bad. I think whoever chopped this thing used a dull hacksaw or something. For your viewing pleasure below:

 

Decide to try my hand at repair one of the spots, I think it turned out ok??

I dig this build, It's gonna end up being a real gow job. You've got the radius of deck in a great place in relation to the radius of the tires.

Any ideas on the best way to "fix" that horrible chop job?

 

BONDO!!!(just kidding)
The way I'd deal with it is to brace as neccessary and remove a 1 or 2 inch strip around the top to get rid of the crap,then replace with a strip of fresh steel.Kind of re-choping it without losing height.
Sounds easy when you say it fast!LOL

Thats sure what it was full of. Looks like they just tacked to top down where it would touch and slapped it full. At least its pretty straight.

I still have the sections from the doors and quarter windows and rear window that I cut out of mine. If you want them they're yours. You could just cut the bad shit out and patch in what I have..

Been a decent week to work in the garage. I got a bunch of work done last night and today, pics below:

More work on the subfloor:
I modified this piece to give me ladder bar clearance at the "Z":

Then after all this work I assembled the rest of the body and pushed it outside so I could clean up all the crap I'd been sweeping underneath it for the past couple weeks........








With visor, mounted a little higher to get rid of the "beak" and so I can have some hope of seeing something outta this thing

awesome progress love it gonna be watching it i've got a 29 myself just in starting/planning phazes talkin to guys at rileys about frame stuff but love the way its lookin have you given thought to having windows or filling the roof yet?

Eric @ Riley will take care of ya, my frame turned out great.

It'll definitely have a windshield and rear glass, not sure on the side windows for now. As far as the roof, I plan to put a stock style insert in it at some point.

 

Time for another update, been working like crazy on this thing.

Little more work on the floor:

Headlights finally arrived, I spent about 6 hrs trying to get these on right. I used the P&J's combo mount, '34 commercial lights: The headlight stands were a PITA to install,
Tire rubs:

After cutting them down some/grind/tack,measure,tack,cuss.......I finally got them close, the "socket" the "ball" of the headlight sits in will require some heating/bending to get the headlights down a bit, they are to high:








Heated/Bent the spindles, tierod is on top of the bone, I needed a little more clearance for the engine/frame:






Finally got the driveshaft cutdown/installed:


Grill insert should be here tomorrow, radiator and gas tank are on the way. Gonna try to finish up my steering, build the driveshaft loops, and rest of the floor this weekend.
