Post pics of phaetons- Lets see the tubs!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Feb 5, 2010.

  1. We've got roadster threads, coupe threads, sedan threads, pickup threads...how about a Phaeton thread. Ford made Phaetons from 1928-1937. They are a 4 door convertable, but have have no roll up windows just like a roadster. I would really like to see 1933-1934's, but they are all oh-so-bitchin! Anyone have any pics?

Here's my 34 Phaeton. Had it for last 31 years. Still has the mechanical brakes on it.

Now, I know this may be an elementary question... so please forgive me for asking... I love 28-31 model A Phaetons... and my brother has a restored MOdel t Touring car which I also enjoy... so what is the difference between Touring cars and Phaetons... simply a changing of terms and times when ford rolled out the new model line? or is it something more? I seem to remember someone telling me that Phaetons have fixed windshield stanchons?

If someone doesn't mind, I would appreciate being set strait... and thank you chris for starting this thread... I'm excited to see the pictures that may show up... cheers!

  8. Touring cars are Model T's only, and Phaetons are model A-up if I'm correct. Just different terms. Phaetons do not have fixed windshield stantions, they are simply a 4 door roadster.
Ford made a convertable sedan that has a fixed windshield and roll up door windows...they are like a 4 door cabriolet.

  15. The Model A was known and called by Ford the "All New Ford". And the Touring had an all new name the Phaeton. People didn't refer to the New Fords as Model A's until many years later.

Chris, You are one lucky guy. That phaeton will make one nice family cruiser.

In an aside, my wife would love to have a '34 phaeton (her birth year). Guess I screwed up when she asked me which '34 would make a neat rod . . .

Oh well, just me and my big mouth . . . .

Sorry for the horrible cell phone pic, but heres my '31 Ford Standard Phaeton. It was painted in '65 and has held up amazingly well. The car has never been patched, and has no rust ever. Its as pretty underneath. Yeah I know its stock, but I like it that way. I came home from the hospital in this car 25 years ago. This is the car responsible for me being into cars. It will remain stock as long as its in my posession. Will try and get some better pics tomorrow.

  28. It's a Rat Rod some guy bolted together in a month or so. The word around town is after seeing it next to such a sweet Phaeton, the owner went home and tore the car completely apart, down to the bare frame and is currently in the middle of redoing the car. ;)
