The shirts just show that no one can relate to MODERN Indy Car Racing or today's "drivers" they have to go back 50 years that being said I think the shirts are cool

I remember Dave Rutherford, could never figure why he would bolt that wing on and tow up to Santa Maria every saturdat night, when you guys lived just down the street from Ascot.

 

I just bought a complete set of SPRINT CAR PICTORIALs that John Mahoney put out. In the 1970 edition [covers 69 season,] at Terre Haute 10-19-69 Gary timmed poorly in the OFFY powered Willie Davis deuce got in Sonny Ates R-Z car and won the feature. On 10-26-69 At Syracuse Gary won the first 50 lapper in Willie's Offy and should have won the second 50 lapper.

I'm wondering if anyone has any info or pictures of Cecil Greenley's Cadillac car that ran out of Webster City, Iowa in IMCA ARI from 1950 to 56.

Thought I would post something that followed me home.

This is an original CAE Sprint Car. They started building the car in 1968 and finished it in 1974. It has an original Boss 351 Cleveland Motor with a Hallibrand rear axle.

The car was run one night, and then stored away until last year when I purchased it. I have known about this car since I was a kid and finally had the chance to buy it last year.

My plans are to leave the paint original. Freshen the engine and run it at vintage sprint car meets.

 

Absolutely leave the paint original... as Josh would say it's only original once. Great find, thanks for sharing the pics. I'd love to see it at speed.

Just found this in the back of an old drawer. Jerry Hoyt at Indy, 1955...

 

The reason for Santa Maria was simple. The consy at Ascot or the trouphy dash at Santa Maria. Pluss the car owner lived in Buelton.

A team of volunteers is restoring the #50 roadster midget built by Ernie Fredrickson in 1955 and raced by him and others until 1979. Powered at first by a Ford Fergie, it later had an Offy, Falcon, & Chevy II in its engine bay.
Thanks to its unique design - 4130 tube bulkheads bolted to aluminum angle sections from a local firetruck ladder builder- the car had few parts in common with a conventional midget and remained pretty much intact after a major crash in 1979.
Ernie's sons bought the car and collected parts for its restoration. Unfortunately, they got called to the Golden Speedway in the sky before they could finish the project. At the request of the Fredrickson family, Lance Turner & Gregg Kishline are leading a team of volunteers to restore the car for eventual donation to a suitable museum.
Work is ongoing at Turner Auto Body in Kenosha Wisconsin. I'll post updates from time to time on the cageless midget thread. One went up a few minutes ago.
As you may know, Harry Turner built the famous "tubs" and many other interesting race cars. Lance & Gregg have a wealth of knowledge and undertake restoration projects if they are interesting cars.

Nice pic indy, thanks. Must be a early pit stop as he dropped out after 40 laps in 55. I believe he still holds the record of being the slowest (reletive to the rest of the field) pole sitter that year. While everyone else was waiting for the weather to clear he went out and qualified on the pole with what should have been about a 10th place speed. This is a Myron Stevens chassis car of Jim Robbins and I see a Hyd. shock and just behind it a lever and linkage. Anyone know what that may have been?
