Low-tide muddy find! What is it?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ConceptVehicleDesign, Feb 2, 2010.

  1. I have been eyeballing this thing at low-tide for months. Finally the tide was low enough to go over and check it out!:D

I think I might have an idea as to what it is, but I don't want to embarrass myself.

I got to meet the property owner, and he said that it has been there since he bought the land in 1957. While we were chatting with him, he said that he knew where there was another car, and that he would show us! He seemed pretty excited about showing us, so we went. Sitting in a drainage ditch there is another old car that I'll need a chainsaw to get pictures of.

Best part is, he said that if we wanted to pull them, he didn't mind. His exact words were "I didn't put them there, and I sure as hell ain't going to do anything with them!".

It looks like the frame is there, under the mud! The firewall looks usable, but I'm not sure about anything else. At the very least, the body parts will look good hanging on the wall of the shop!

Who cares what they are right now....Get them out of the water ASAP..

  4. First impression was Model A but I don't think that's a ford after expanding the pics...

    Is that a Dodge?

    I believe it's a 1933 or 1934 Reo royale custom sedan.

  8. I tried to get good pics of the body lines and such, but haven't come across any photos on the net that seem to match exactly.

it's an artificial reef! haha. Looks like a little figurine that you'd find at the bottom of a hot-rodders fish tank.

  11. That back 1/4 window is what I am trying to match up with something, the REO or the Austin and def not the Ford does not have the raised area around that back window.

That is great! Over 40 years ago I found a 34 Tudor sedan buried in the beach on Bolivar just SE of Houston. About 8" of the body was showing above the sand. We couldn't believe that anything was left at all buried in a salt water beach but we dug in several spots up to a foot deeper than what was showing and it was still solid to the touch. Always wondered...how did it get there and when?

holy sh!t look at that mud!

you better bring a change of clothes & boots before you get in the truck to go home.
you could lose a 30 foot log chain in there.

good find! drag em out & pressure wash em up.

Well my other choice could be a 32 or 33 willys eight custom sedan. all 4 doors would have been suicided on this one.

  15. I think you may be on to something with the Willys....

  16. If I remember correctly, there are hinges on the wheel wells in the rear and forward-facing hinges on the b-pillars. Maybe it is a willys!?!

Any pictures of one in a little bit better shape perhaps?

Rear body line looks wrong for that one.

    32-33 Rockne?

  23. Judging by the second picture it sure seems to have suicide front doors.

I'm still running through pictures of willys and other sedans of the early 30's.

Anyone else got some ideas or pictures. I'm still trying to match up the rear body line and the quarter window with something.

  25. That front body line has a step in it, but it looks real close.

    No suicide front doors, though.

  26. How about a 33-34 Dodge ?

I'm thinking maybe a 1934 Willy 4 door sedan. The molding around quarter window looks right and the firewall looks right and I think some were 4 door suicide. But just an uneducated guess

I'd figure out a way to pressure wash it free of the mud. If there is a way to get a hose and gas pressure washer, go that way. If not, see if there is a local rental outfit that can rent something that picks up water and pumps it out at a good clip. Unstick it that way rather than shovel it out.
