I need some ideas for my 65 Riviera. Nothing really that special about the car. Just a great driver. 401 engine, a/c. Really does run and drive great. Here is the direction I'm leaning. Keep the seafoam green metallic, drop it 2", put 17" rims on it (simple 5 spoke design, noting too ghetto). I don't think it takes too much to dress these cars up. Here's the car. Let me see your pics or pics you've seen with some mid custom Rivs. Thanks.
Not a fan of the billet wheels and in the 17" variety a big no .... supremes or wires, skinny whites, a little lower and go on...
No no no, you dont want want one of those. Send it to me! I will show you what to do with it. Anyways great car. I would drop it with narrow whites and supremes, as the trends change that car never falls behind. It always has a following. Beautiful lines and when you lower it they really pop. And I disagree about the billet grill, it matches the headlights beautifully!
I've got a buddy with some old 15" Weld wire wheels. He'd let me run them around for a while. But the are in rough shape (rusty and flaking chrome). Hell I might keep the ralleys on it after I drop it.
Nice car, i had a -64, and my plan was lower it, and the Buick GT wheels (like the green one above) and have the black parts (green on that one) painted suede silver or sandblasted, they look like cool 60ies custom wheels then!
...WHATS WRONG WITH NOW?DROP IT A FEW INCHES , THATS ALL IT NEEDS. NO 17s and no rubber band tires ,,SHIT JUST SELL TO SOMEBODY...
I'll just give you my opinion of what NOT to do to your Riviera. Do NOT put on widewhites as they were no longer being used by the time your Rivi was born. Do NOT paint it with flat paint, it diminishes the perfect factory lines of the car. Do NOT do too much to it. These cars are gorgeous as is. Lower it. Rims. Drive it.
Perfect car! Wasn't this at the Pileup? If so, sorry for the drool all over it. I really really like the look of this car!
While I actually happen to like those wheels, this is not the site to come to for advice if that's the route you want to go. Spend some time any look around. A nice ride height adjustment of 2-3" and 15" Astro Supremes, wires or chrome reverse and pinner whitewalls are the hot/timeless set-up for your Riv. Be sure to do a search too -- lots of threads with Riv pics.
not enough sidewall... low profile tires don't look right on old cars. Pluse they suck on the street anyway, especially if you have potholes where you live.
