Thanks Bob, I really enjoyed the slide show. It brought back a lot of memories from the 50's & 60's when, I started driving on the street, with the proper paper work.

Great slide show, brings back memories of going down to the dealers in September to check out the new models and all the hoopla with that. Man, a whole line of brand new Mustangs, I use to sit in them and drool.
Thought it was interesting how many of them seemed to have their used cars/ other makes more promanantly displayed out front instead of the new Fords.

Thanks, that was great, I've searched for English Ford dealerships to no avail.

  8. This is and old Ford dealership building in Nutley NJ. I saw the new '56 Fords in this dealership when I was 10 years old. The salesman told my friend and I that if we could get our family members to buy one, he would give us $10.00 for each car we helped sell. Couldn't sell a one, but I have owned 6 of them since then.:)

  9. Boy, memory lane for sure! Some remind me of the old dealerships that I worked in, others of some I rummaged thru after they were closed, hunting for stuff to use in places I worked. Nice to see the pre-'cookie cutter' buildings from before the late 60s/early 70s. Cars in some pics would be great to have, but as an old parts manager, I'd be just as interested in stuff stashed in the Parts Departments too - gold mines!

  13. I'm sure that's where my dad bought his 64 1/2 Mustang in his early 20s. He was probably looking at those 56s right along side you.

Thanks for the link. I always remember my oldest brother's high school senior yearbook. One of the pages had a pic of our podunk town's Ford dealership with several spankin' new Cougars lining the front row.

What a great photo slide, that black '57 Ranchero parked out front on one of the early photos with the Lancer caps is beautiful.
    Thanks for the post.

I love some of those old Ford signs hanging on their buildings. What happened to all those signs. Did they store them when replacing them or just trash them?

WOW , that brought back some great memories.
There were 3 of them I know about and all were in Maryland !
The Al Packard Ford I think is still in business and passed up a mechanics job there , Academy Ford I also turned down a job but ended up taking the job at Joe Grimm Ford in Randallstown , Md . The only reason I took that job there and not the other 2 was because I lived 10 mins away !
I didn't see Champion Ford in Catonsville & Action Ford on Reistertown Rd in Balto. next to the old Koontz Dairy which I also worked at as a mechanic also until it closed ! That was back in the early 1970's till the late 70's .
Had some really great times at all of those places !

Thanks for the ride down memory lane !

Yep! Lots of obsolete stock was just left upstairs in those buildings when they closed them up and went more modern in the '60's. Maybe someone should start a thread "Whats the best thing you ever found in a closed Ford dealership". Theres a few old guys on here I'm sure would have an answer.
