With the inset windshields the front almost looks like a face. That would be cool as hell restored or rodded if you could get somebody else to buy the fuel.

  2. appears to be a moving van. if you look close it says north american on it

Yank out that old 100 hp or so IH 6-banger gas burner and replace it with a late model IH DT466 or DT530 6- cylinder turbo-diesel, set at about 275 or 300hp, plus a matching 6 or 7 speed tranny and a properly geared rearend and your fuel bill might not be too bad. All the running gear could be salvaged from a wrecked mid-90's or newer International medium-duty truck.

On a less sarcastic note, I'd love to have something like this for a race car hauler.

    I hate being broke. :(

That thing is super bitchen. If I could find one of those out here, I'd swear-ta-God sell my house and live in it.

You should seriously get that, if only to stop the rust.

    They're not building any more.

the truck is i-h 1958 to 62 with the red diamond engine. used in metros, etc. you would buy the running chassic and have a custom body fabbed. I've had . four 6 cyl. metros- rugged trucks.

I ran across this the other day and remembered this thread. Looks like the bigger brother to the other one.

  17. I think the body builders were Gerstenschlager. They made postal trucks in the 1990s.

I saw something at Hersey a couple of years ago. Owner said it originally was a horse van.

i believe fageol was in cahoots with the twin coach bus company in kent, ohio. where i live. theres' a couple old busses around here, but nothing that cool. it's screaming for a vintage motorhome makeover. damn that's cool. someone better swoop that thing up.

Not as big as the Hall-Scott inline six I did some work on. That was 935 inches! They made a 1091 too.

great thread! I am looking for one to turn into a mobile studio/vendor vehicle for Defiance Speed Shop. From my research Fageol sold the van/coach line in the 30's. Twin Coach produced them under the Fageol patent.

The International Harvester tie in is all the chassis is IH front to rear for easier serviceability on the 1950's Fageol vans. So having a IH steering wheel is pretty common on these type of vans.

If anyone has seen one around the Missouri/Kansas/Arkansas/Oklahoma area recently I would love to know about it!!!

Looked at it again yesterday. It's a bit more rusted and the owner is up to $5,000. for it now. I believe it will be sitting there permanently.
