  5. Spoggie,

The signs are cut from 1/8" two sided smooth pressboard. The clean lines come from all pieces being cut by a laser. It creates a .005" parting line between pieces. The layout of the different layers is all fiqured out in Corel Draw first. All the seperate cut parts are then painted according to the layout, assembled, and the entire piece is then clear coated. Easy right or is this to much info for much appreciated comment. Thanks for noticing. Check out my custom signs album for more.

A couple of other things I've been messing with. Photoshop

Some line work for a rendering I haven't started yet.

Thanks to all for your continued inspiration, appreciation, and a great enviroment in which to share artwork of all kinds.

Ed, there's no denying your technical prowess, and your ability to duplicate a black and white photo in pencil is unmatched. But your sketch this week is much more "artistic" to me than a tight rendering of a photo, and is my favorite of all the posts I've seen of yours. Nice going!

Nothing new from me. I can't seem to find the time to do some fresh hotrod stuff, so again, here are some oldies...

^ Hotrod & Kustom Art Exhibition flyer. (digital, 2007)

Again I used a hotrod DAF in a RothStudio-style. The 'monster' is my personal version of a 'tiki'-mask, influenced by the Mooneyeslogo, pinstriping, hotrodflames, and ofcourse traditional Indonesian Wayang masks. I'm of Dutch/Indonesean origin, and I feel it's more appropreate for me to be inspired by my own herritage and mixing it with American Kustom Kulture.

^ Me at the age of 4/5 writing DAF on a Dutch landmark ruine 1977/1978. I could spell DAF way before I could write my own name :)

As I said before: The DAF has a special place in my heart. These little, and only true Dutch peoplecars were made in my hometown. And yes, I tend to be a bit patriotic about em... ;-) Though the only hotrod-example of a DAF is this one:

    <object height="344" width="425">

    <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TrG_uz7EmsI&hl=nl_NL&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="344" width="425"></object>

^ Hotrod DAF in a trailer for Speedfest 4 (2009)
It's being build by the frontman of Peterpan Speedrock, but I don't know how serious he is about building a 'real' V8 hotrod out of it... Should be fun though...

A few years ago me and my brother made some decorations for a local outdoor rock&roll-party. The bar owner liked it so much, so he kept the decorations installed in his backyard, where the party took place. The location has been featured in an episode of Miami-ink:

I hope this isn't too much off topic, cause it IS definately inspired by Kustom Kulture as we know it.

    Cheers,
    Jeffrey

What, did I miss the memo that this is sketch week? Awesome post Iowa Mark. Larry, that is just great work, and great composition too.

Excellent layout WhateverWeber. I like the references to Monogram.

You guys are killing me. I'm glad it's Friday.

Lots of good stuff this week, everyone must be fired up over the new year or something. Nothing hot rod-related for me this week, just printing photos for a book project, and finishing up a small 48" x48" painting.

Thanks for the good words, guys. With all the talent around here, it can be a little intimidating for a doodler. Anyway, here something else.
