I'm afraid spray gluing sand and shells might cause it to over heat, good idea though. I'm not sure of the Desoto grill though, what year did you have in mind?
I suggest leaving it as is, it looks great. Too much more and it's going to look too busy and cluttered. Just my opinion.
hi there i love your car the way it is i saw it at the summernats last year in mass ive got a bunch of pics of it.
Actually a '60s show car style grille might work on that car. Not a really wild one, but remember the one with the Edsel grille insert that came in the AMT '32 Ford tudor sedan customizing kit? Along those lines.
Yep!!! That looks great. you don't want to do anything to goddy. If anything I was thinking just an insert of some kind... This looks killer!!!
awww..than get her to pose for it..problem solved? a sincere form of flattery might get you more than you thought?
I hate to admit it, and it may be overdone but the deuce grille does look good, Maybe that is the reason its done so often?
CRUSH...what a beautiful old huppy. man anyone who can build like that, can make it work. but i would love to see what you come up with!..POP.
It is pretty dark up there, and the douche grille does look better. I was hoping to see some examples so I know what to do with my A grille. Maybe I'll put a douche grille on mine.
Chrome shell-will balance nicely with the chrome wheels and chrome always provides excitement! Photoshop anyone?
I would have to aggree that it looks nice as is. Don't put another '32 shell on it. Just use the insert bars and place them behind the shell, as if it were supposed to be that way.
How about a couple more options... Here is the grille with vertical grille slots added: ...and here's another option with an added molded centerpiece:
I'd be less concerned about the grill shell as I would about losing the painted wood-grain and surf board. But, hey, it's your car. That being said . . . if you must make a change to the grille shell, I'd just go with a chromed stock 28-29 unit (perhaps a chopped one to get rid of the uphill slope from the cowl to the grille shell) and call it done.
You could go down to your local building supply house and browse through their metal screen mesh material.I have seen that stuff put in between the shell and radiator in the past.Maybe something made of expanded aluminum mesh.
The guy I bought my altered from put in an expanded aluminum mesh, I'm going to paint it black, I'm not crazy about the faided gold anodizing. Besides a grill insert isn't permanent.
He just started this thread so he could show off his ride. Just kidding, glad you did i really like it. The pic with the 32 grille does look good, to late now but i think it would look cool if you carried the peak on top of the 32 grille, on to the top of the cowl and let it fade out at the windshield.
The only thoughts I have would be to either replace the pinstriping at the emlblem area with the Orange Crush idea or to put a vertical bamboo reed insert in front of the raciator for a really diff look (don't know if I like the 2nd idea- just rolled off the top of my head). Your car is great and would look just fine if you left it alone as well.
