Hello, great looking 55. Those sheet metal screws sticking through the floor will be a hazard to the hands when installing the shifter. I am not
faulting your work just speaking from experience.

Those hold the shifter boot on, I know that looks like shit under the car. We take it off when doing the shifter anyway. It takes all of 1 minute to do.

  5. Hey brother.....love the added touch of the Ansen Drag Brake...very cool....where the hell did you come across one of them? Love to stick one in my 55.

Looking forward to seeing your traction bar design when you post pic's......congrats on the build ....the 55 is turning out real sweet.

    About them headers...

Have you done the clear coat trick before? Durable?

How did you cure the white VHT?

I just painted em with the white VHT 2000 degree paint. Waited for them to be dry to the touch, then just gave em a good coat of the VHT 2000 degree clear. The clear yellows them just a bit. I let them set overnight and we put the motor in the next day. We ran it for a while. The headers were nice and hot and they didn't discolor or anything. This is the first time I used the clear on them. Before we just used the white and that held up great but it also stained.

OK. I did not have luck with the VHT when I used it, but I laid down multiple coats and no clear. I had the 460 headers cermacoated with white, which didn't take long to freckle with rust so I'm gonna go back to VHT with the FE headers this time.
