It will do about 120 MPH on the straights with a 1000CC engine.

And it did a high 16sec 1/4 mile, in the rain...

I am loving this thread! Especially the CanAm shots! My old Boss was a CanAm driver (hell, he has driven everything at some point).

If anyone has a collection of CanAm pictures, do you know if you have any shots of a McLaren M3B (Known as the M1C in Europe). The car was black, with gold rockers, #72. I have only found one shot of it, and it was one that I already had an original of. Jeff was an independent driver, so there really aren't any pictures of him on the net. He now restores British cars in Boston (at least I HOPE he is still working)!

As somebody else already mentioned, hot rodding is trying to get the best performance possible out of your equipment.

I don't care if you turn left only, turn left and right, go straight, run on asphalt, dirt, gravel, or climb hills. I love it all. That was one of the greatest things about the 15 years I spent working for NHRA at IRP. Can you imagine getting up and going to work every day to an oval, a road course, and a drag strip? There were times during the week when we had testing going on at the oval and the drag strip, or the oval and the road course. Never did figure out the timing to do the drag strip and road course at the same time.

And there were a few times we actually had competitive events, with spectators, going on at the drag strip and the oval at the same time.

    Keep those photos coming.

Great thread you guys. I went to Goodwood this past September. If you ever get the chance to go, it's a fantastic Vintage Race weekend. Here's a couple of pics. The guy in the white shirt and tie talking to the mechanic of the red Alpha Romeo 8C is me. The mechanic spoke no English and I spoke no German but we still managed to discuss superchargers. And yes you do have to dress to get in to the paddock.

Oops, it's not an Alpha 8C in the pic, it's a Maserati.
