worked a bunch on the car during the snowstorm today,,,
got the rear wheel opening grafted in,,,
    shaped the quarter...
    welded in some filler pieces,,
shaped the bottom of the quarter from the back of the wheel opening to the end of the car
welded in some bracing to tie the quarter to the trunk floor,,

    pretty productive day today..
the snow STILL sucks though :p

i believe i'm gonna deep six the skirts,,,,

i liked the way they looked,,,but after
some further thinking, in the interest of
keeping the car true to its fictional build
    date (late 50s/early sixties),,i'm not
    gonna run em after all,,,,,

once i had the wheel opening grafted in
and stood back and looked at the car, the
decision wasn't really all that difficult..

  14. So much better without the skirts.

  15. Agreed the skirt kind of looked out of place and the wheel opening just goes with the flow of the rest of the car. Great work Jim!!

looking better everytime i see an update. think the forward leaning headlight hoods definitly improve the side profile of the car. also agree no skirts, looked cool but interupt the flow of the overall body. rear bumper fits around quarter beautifully. i'm amazed at your willingness to change plans mid stream and it always seems to be for the better. keep the updates coming, jersey mike. p.s. for anyone who hasn't seen it, go to kustom7777 profile and check out his early cadillac full kustom build, amazing car i would have loved to seen finished. what ever happened to that car jim?

Awesome, Jim...those rear wheel opening came out perfect and flow nicely with everything else. I liked the skirts, but it does look better without them now that you have the openings done...less is better!
    Thanks for the update!
