Naw. You were right about the axle mounting on the underside of the spring. I don't know what I was thinking, I need to get more sleep.

Gear Jammer, you probably have the nicest early Chevy out there and as nice as this one is I would own your coupe ten fold over this one. Who dropped your axle?

Thanks, but I love that orange car, Haha, It doesnt get better than that as far old hotrod, Id like to see what the wood looks like under that orange skin, and It probably has some old cool color under that orange, my axle was dropped by someone here on the hamb, it isnt stretched, so its a little to narrow for my liking,

  8. how much is it dropped? Any side shots of the car?

Nice to see a wicked looking early Chevy. And all along I thought all they did was those fabulous small block V8's.:rolleyes::D

I wish my unrestored 32 looked like that! But you know what they say, you can wish in one hand and crap in the other and you know which one will fill up first.

I'll agree with the fender comment, the top and glass is like a greenhouse on the chevies, 3 1/2" is perfect

luv them duece chevys, reminds me of my first car. the neighbor had a 32 Chevy roadster with a pickup bed in it, just parked in his backyard. I used to sneak over and 'pretend' drive it. one day he asked "do you want it"? you gotta pay me 5 bucks a month for one month, I ran and got my savings and gave it to him. My Dad nixed it of course, I was 14. Always makes me recall them daze.

Latest Scoop... The Chevy was indeed a late 50's build, being featured in two magazines in 1960. Looks like it was a Bay Area built car, too...
Motor is listed as a 52 Olds.

Hahahaha!!! I just found this article at my good friend Del's (HOTDAMN) house and I was pumped to show it to you guys but it looks like I am too late!!! Jive Bomber nice scoop, it looks like you beat me to the punch. I'll try to scan the article in on Monday so everyone can read it....

Some notes on the build include...

-1952 Olds engine punched to 3-15/16"
    -Potvin Cam
    -Milled Heads
    -Mallory Ignition
    -Four Pot Intake
    -Block painted "Chrome Yellow"
-Firewall moved back three inches and replaced with stainless steel counterpart
-LaSalle Tranny with an 18" drive shaft
-3" drop Axle with '38 spindles and backing plates
    -Buick wheels with 8.20's
-Henry J wheels up front with 6.40's
    -Upholstery by Joe Repitie
    -Body originally bought for $50.00
    -Full SW gauge equipped interior.

I can't believe that this was the first little book I picked up at Del's in a stack of hundreds. I was not even looking for it!!! It's like it sought me out......a little late though!!!

GearJammer, I am glad that you showed your coupe. I just got sick I'm so jealous.

JiveBomber, it like you even took these pictures on my wooden stool like I did. The backgrounds are similar!!! Nothing gets passed you hahaha!!!

  28. Nice!! I remember seeing pictures of that car somewhere. Maybe it was that old magazine article. I searched high and low when I was building mine. They were tough to find.

Gear Jammer, is your's a 31? I am assuming it is by the visor. Very nice hot rod!

    I love the old Chevy's.
