Jay made me feel good. He encouraged me always and sometimes it felt like he was the one man who understood what I was trying to do with hot rods.. We had plans to meet up a couple times but the stars where never aligned... he was always supposed to be there. Now he's not and I'm not joking when I tell you all my heart is in pieces. I am so saddened by Jay's passing. Although I never met him, I feel the same loss as if he were a close friend. Our prayers to you and your family, Gay. We share your pain. Fred
Wierd ... Wierd .. Blank .. Will remember C9 with admiration & a Smile . Klaz " ..Gettin' cooler here today. Yesterday, about the same. Took the roadster to Saturday morning donuts. The gang left for the trailer auction early and I followed them down the hill 5 miles to check it out. Lots of box trailers - mostly Harley size - and a lot of very nice tandem aluminum open trailers. Parked on the side of the road, walked a 1/4 mile down a mild grade, took one look at the over 100 yard registration line, turned around and walked back. Guys from the donut gang did the same. Nice ride back on the freeway. Haven't driven the 32 for aboujt a week so it was especially enjoyable. "
I/We will miss him greatly... I feel fortunate to have read his posts on the HAMB. He had that special style of writing that put you right in the story. I could actually "see","feel" and "smell" the road as he experienced it.
I am deeply saddened for sure. He was truly an incredible wealth of knowledge and shared that wealth with us all. We had talked a bunch a few months ago about polishing wheels and bringing them back to a shine. He always steered me in the right direction. My prayers go out to all of us but especially his family. We all should be comforted with all that he left behind and gave to all of us. Legend for sure.
Gay and family Simon and I am are truely saddened by the news of Jay's passing. He was a true friend and we will always treasure the time we stayed with you both in Visalia. Happy memories. RIP Jay Simon & Janet
I'm just in shock. The more I reflect, the more upset I get. I just talked to him a few weeks ago! I'm going for a ride in my roadster, even though all the gauges are out of it right now. One of the great ones is gone. I'm gonna miss him.
SO sorry to here this, he was as cool as they come, used to pm me out of the the blue and that ment so much to me, I have his books and I recomend them for everybody that loves hotrods. Pinky is an awesome story. RIP Jay you will be missed by many.....
Not all of us got to meet him in person, but we all considered him a friend. He will be missed and remembered always. -Abone.
I think we should retire his Avatar & C9 name here on the HAMB. I always made it a point to read what he had to say. Prayers with the family for sure................
I never met him in person but he seemed like a very talented and wise man and I will miss seeing his avatar in many of the threads I frequent. I'm sure this place is better for having him. RIP C9.
Oh man. I'm so,so sorry to hear this. Thats some really sad news. Jay was one of those people who shared everything freely and was just an all around QUALITY guy...you won't be forgotten "C9". Condolences to Gay and family.
Now that is a big fat bummer . . . bought some parts from him recently, heck of a nice guy. RIP C9 and Godspeed . . .

I'm at a loss for words. For as long as I've been here I've always enjoyed his storytelling. It's one of the things that made the HAMB so great. I feel saddened that I'll never get to meet him, and those who did are indeed fortunate. I hope his posts are archived for posterity. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
I'm at a loss. I LOVED his stories.........they were always so much fun to read. For once, I'm at such a loss for words, I'm sorry. Brandy
Jay could write a story, no doubt!!! Guys like him make hot rodding fun as hell! The things he wrote were always good...always! I wish I could've met him personally. I can only imagine what kind of guy he was up close and in his element. RIP.
