Are you kiddin? I mean, the interior is gutted now as its beeing
re-upholstered w/ simple rolls e pleats, but whats wrong w/ angel hair?
Im making the headliner outta angel hair w/ 1 or 2 rolls e pleats
insets runnin across the whole lenght of the roof,
i personally love fur, of course it has to be in the right car.
Its a 70 ford, which is goin early lowrider style, so i guess is appropriate.

Hey mckustoms, your knobs are wicked! nice work!

No pic, but one of my favorites is the HURST aluminum T-handle, but not the common one. The one I'm currently looking for has the shift pattern in the H and is covered in black "fuzzy" material, like velvet. It came in a plastic, zip lock pouch in the mid-late 60's.

Besides that, I'll take a good ol' Hurst white ball over any "novelty" knob.....nothing feels better in yer hand while BANGIN' gears....especially one that's turned yellowish from years of ABUSE.:D

Yes I did. He bought it from me first. :D

  13. Rocco and Cheaters in B'ham Alabama had a bunch of those fuzzy T handle hurst shifters. You would think they would get NASTY!

I like the old yellowed up Hurst knobs too. My Dad had one with a nick in it I wanted real bad and it has disappeared over the years. I got the shifter but that ball is GONE DAMMIT!

One of these days I will find something cool and old to use or make something myself, but for the time being, this is what's going in the '54

    some sweet ideas in here!

I made this earlier this year:

Also did a set of knobs out of the same woods (podunk and maple burl) though they're not this shape. Pictures unfournantly don't capture the movement of light in the wood. When you turn it the light on the podunk runs through the grains in the opposite direction as the burl (which looks 3D, not flat), it's very cool.

And I did this one years ago for my car, looks kinda dead in the picture though. Thats Purple heart, it's actually a deeper purple in person, and clear around.

  27. I know the whole skull thing is kind of overdone, but does anyone remember the skulls that Socal carried a few years back? They were by an artist of some note but I can't remember who. There were several different styles and all were cast aluminum if I recall correctly.

Here is a shifter knob one of my students made in our machine shop. It looks way better in person. This is taken with a phone. It's brass. Machined on a manual lathe with a radius attachment.
