I'm hoping someone can tell me what this engine weighs? I bought it for a future project, and there is very little info on the web about it.

Anyone know where to get engine parts for it?

I'm not positive what I'm going to use it in, so I'm open to ideas!:D

    Thank you.

I do believe that is the "little" (462) Seagrave, not the 906. I'm sure, though, if I'm wrong, that I'll soon be corrected!

This is all great stuff, guys! Thanks!

There are not many engines that can make your flat cad look little. You done good at that. I am worried what will be next.

    Looks WAAAAY cool tho

  10. I read somewhere that Pierce Arrow went out of business and that Seagrave kept their motors in production.

Rich, this will probably be my last build. After the flat cad, and this, I'll have sucessfully spent all of my kids inheritence!Lol!

I would still like to know the weight, if anyone knows. Also, a source for engine parts.

I'm thinkin the Pierce Arrow dual ignition, four valve,"6" would be easier to
    package...:p

That model A is Bob Bendtsens. He's the guy the makes the trans adapters to fit the early motors to late transmissions. He has a HUGE collection of cool oddball motors. The model a used to have a Lincoln V-12 flathead in it!

  18. I don't remember seeing those on the one good engine weights list. You might be best off weighing your truck with it loaded and then with it empty, on a truck scale somewhere.

I think it will be a while before I have it running, although it turns free.

Kurtis-I've tried the seagrave owners site for the weight, but no answers there.

Here are a few pics. I just bought it last night, and need to pick it up. I won't be using the truck, just the engine.

Just an observation, but does that look like a little much for a 2x4 tube frame?

I saw that truck on ebay, and thought it was cool as shit. Gonna be a lot of work, but that engine will make a cool powerplant for something, thats for sure. Good luck.

Man, FUN thread! Unclee is right. Pierce-Arrow was selling their able V-12 to other companies in the early '30s, INCLUDING the Seagrave fire engine company of Parsons Avenue in Columbus, Ohio (ask me how I know that. LOL).

When Pierce went under in the mid-'30s, the directors SOLD the V12 design outright to Seagrave, which continued to build bigger AND BIGGER versions for decades. In fact, Seagrave was the ONLY U.S. fire enigne maker still using a gasoline enigne by the time they stopped making the old Pierece-based V-12 in '69 or '70.

If I am not mistaken, the Pierce and the Seagrave versions were both DUAL-ignition, too.
