Event Coverage Valla Rod Run Pix, too tired, too much food

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by X38, Oct 11, 2009.

  1. Just got back from a weekend at the Valla run, which is a week long event at the beach on the mid NSW coast. I just went for Friday, Sat and came home this morning. I hadn't been for about 9 years (it's in it's 33rd year) and it was good to catch up with some old mates - including FAT141 who was in good form. Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best this year, but at least it wasn't stinking hot either!

Saturday morning most everyone fills the main street of the nearby town of Nambucca Heads for a show and shine and it was packed. I've included a pic of some of it. It really was hard to get clear shots. And no, I'm no great camera guy!

    Thanks for sharing.

That yellow 34 Sedan is sweet! Any side shots, interior, or other pictures of it? How about of the yellow 48-53 F1?

That pale green A roadster does some miles, was at CHOPPED in Newstead last weekend. That has to be about 1800 klm's ????

  14. Jimbob, I had a chat with Mark, he said he drove up from Newstead, had a day at home, then headed north to Valla. BIG trip in 2 weekends!

Steve, saw the shirts, never got one.

  24. Flatoz, I drove the roadster, it's in the shot of cars parked outside the pub, all the camping gear for 2 fit in the trunk - just.

Bob, don't mention the sloper, it's slowly, slowly. But here are a couple of shots of a rodded one from the 70's. There were quite a few utes as well as you'd expect.

I threw in a phone camera shot driving home on a miserable day past mile after mile of sugar cane. Tried to get a kangaroos crossing sign but the phone works too slow at highway speed and it came out blurry.

There were some interesting flatties also, including this blown one. Sounded fantastic at speed!

    Thanks for the pics.

Whats the deal with the little fenders on the fenderless rods? Do they make you run them? Just looks kinda strange.

  29. Road rules in all states stipulate that all vehicles must have fenders. Depending on how/who looks after registration for hot rods in some states you can get away without them (I did for 10 years until I moved state), some states you can't. But the bottom line is you have to have them when you get your car inspected for registration in the first place.
