Hot Rods 1928 Dodge 4 door --can anything be done to make it a hot rod ?

I wouldn't chop it it'll look like a school bus then.

Whatever you do, do not discard the wooden wheels. If they are straight the antique Dodge and Plymouth guys will pay pretty good for them.

The engine and trans might get a pretty good chuk of change also.

 

It came with an entire pickup load of parts as well ..

I've not bought it , my friend bought it 4-5 years ago with intention to do something with it and , has now decided it will not happen

So, he mentioned that he was going to sell and would I want first shot at it but, mentioned no price for everything

Honestly ,i have no good idea of value, I believe there is 2nd engine, and trans as well

He brought it home from Montana in either 04 or 05 ?

 

Hey Big dad, looking at some pics I believe that car is a 27 not a 28, I have a 28 victory 6 and the body lines are way different and I dont think its a senior six. Ron...

this one says its a chopped 1927....

i see keeping it a more door with a chop and a hemi. but thats just me

 

drop it, with a reverse eye front spring and a t spring.
you already got the suicide doors, so thats cool
put a nailhead, rocket, or hemi in it
and some custom body work..you should be set.

Its yours but i think 4-door Mopar powered ,Light chop would be just right. Keep the Dodge sheet metal. But if you want it to look like a Ford buy a Ford.

 

I would cut off the roof, section out the rear doors, and make it a spacious RPU. Keep the fenders and add a bed.

I agree, looks to be a 27.

That said, this cars have tons more interior room than a Ford or Chev. There's not a lot of wood in the body either. Came with semi elliptic springs on each end. Just think, no wishbones fighting the oil pan or transmission for space( or the running boards/splash aprons if you split them). Hell for stout frame that would need little or no modification. Easy enough to lower by dropped axles or mounting the axles on the springs. A double dip tube axle from the mid to late thirties is doable (I've got one for mine). And the fairly large engine bay shouldn't need stretching, even for a HEMI.

No need to cobble it up to make a hot rod, just look at what your fellow HAMB members have thrown up on this post. They make nice looking cars, probably easier than their Ford or GM cousins

Here is what I did with my 30 dodge sedan.

 

...don't chop the top. Everybody wants to "chop the top", follow the path least travelled. Keep it all MOPAR by using a 440 6 pack or a 413 w/crossram 2x4's backed by a 4-speed.

...but then, it's only my opinion and it's not my car. In the end you should do as you want, 'cause it's your car and damn anybody else's opinion.

 

No fenders, chopped top 3" or so and a wicked multi carb slant 6!

 

Darryl, I'd leave it as-is, bodywise! I can't see why everyone feels the absolute need to chop a car! I'd go with a Mopar 383 or 440, or even an early Dodge Hemi. The resto-rod route would be appropriate for this one, IMO. Since it's a big car, I'd go with black fenders and a dark color on the body, such as Chrysler Black Cherry, or perhaps a dark metallic blue from a Chrysler or Cadillac.

Actually, these guys are right, with all the suggestions, mostly valid.
But most of all ----- It would be YOUR car, do as you see fit. And right, it IS NOT a Ford or a Chevy. It's different, and it'll get you attention wherever you go. Perley

Id look up the doyle gammel coupe. I'd copy the feel it has and build the sedan in the same style. Coop's sedan is another id check out.
