Hey Judd, thanks for posting pics of my dads car. We just got back from the Adirondack Nationals in Lake George. It looks a little different now with a 2 gallon moon tank mounted into the drivers side of the grille , still needs to be plumbed.Take it easy ...........Jay

The picture with the Galaxy and 64 Comet are of unrestored original cars. The Galaxy was a Stock Eliminator car, still has manifolds on it.The black 64 Cyclone is a factory B/FX car converted to stack fuel injection.Scott had the Cyclone and his Mickey Thompson hemi-headed 427FE at Dick Brannans show back in 2006.Jim Barillaro had both the 65 and 67 Christman cars at the show also.

I noticed that this Ronnie Sox Comet was sponsored by Briarsfield Lincoln-Mercury, Greensboro, NC. Was there a Comet sponsored by Mooresville Ford-Mercury, Mooresville, NC (home of Ralph Moody and much of NASCAR generally)?

[Please PM me if you know of any Ford or Mercury, drag car, NASCAR, dirt track, etc. that was sponsored by Mooresville Ford-Mercury.]

Saw these today, I was sorry I didn't get to see injected altered Comet run but it was for the better, this was an old drag car that has been stored since the 70's, all of the original drag tires were very dry cracked, it was cool to see a surviver.

A few more photos of the blue Georgia Shaker Comet from the Old Timers Reunion Drag Race. The red dot says "Where's Hubert?" Name on the door used to say "Larry Davis".

Opps. Had that Georgia Shaker Falcon mixed up with the Comet. I don't think that I got any photos of the Comet.

I was there also. That falcon was cool as hell. Pretty good turnout. I think the only Comet was the silver one. Bill

Next year, we need to do a HAMB meet and greet. There were several HAMB'ers there.

There were two Comets. The silver one from California, and the black one shown in David Walters' post. Somehow, I missed getting pics of either one! I did have a nice conversation with the owner of the silver one, though.

That silver 65 Comet belongs to John"Scrap Iron"Richmond from So.Cal.The car runs an alcohol injected 363" Ford with a C-4,10.0s at over 130 mph.John and his right hand man Steve built that car from the ground up! ROY.

Mr. Richmond said it was a 302, putting out over 700hp.

I got a question for the comet guys out there.Do you know where to buy replacement wheel hubs for a 65 comet?I can get new drums but the wheel hubs seem a little hard to find.
I'm not sure about using the ones I have because of the racin's seemed a little nicked up.
Maybe I'll try some water sanding with a fine sandpaper grit like 2000.They are on original fomoco drums.
    Thanks

Muncie;same as a 65-66 Mustang or 64-65 Falcon.Had to get one for a 65 Comet a couple years back.V-8 and 6 bangers are different. The bearing races are replaceable. John's engine is a 363",9.2"deck height Dart block, kind of a tall deck between an 8.2" 302 and 9.5" 351W.John and I have been good friends since about 2001.This is his third 65 Comet,he built an alcohol burning, injected 427 SOHC 65 in 2003-2005,some guy had to have it,made some outragess bid and, SOLD!! Muttley's post of "Dyno" Don Nicholson's Comet reminded me of a time around 1996 or '97 when I attended a drag race at Baytown (Houston) with an old neighbor of mine. They had the first funny cars I had ever seen. One was Gene Snow in a steel bodied Valient or some such Chrysler product and Don Nicholson in what I remember as a fiberglass Comet.

They weren't yet using Christmas trees and when the flagman got ready to wave the start flag, he passed out as the nitro fumes displaced the oxygen around him. The cars were pretty spectacular and we were standing pretty close to them at the starting line--something a regular spectator could not do today. Thanks for the memories.
