Proving that they are still out there,,1942 Lincoln Continental. Dealer installed V8 ,,the boys got these a while back ( this a convert and parts ) but finally got it out in the light ,, Was up on blocks and that seems to have treated it well as it has no rot underneath ( small 2 inch whole on drivers floor )..tucked away in a Jersey barn,,must be from somewhere else due to how little rust there is..Most folks prefer the Zephyrs ,,but still a neat old piece of history.I'm sure whoever gets it will restore it..

    But thought I'd share

The condition isn't even that bad!
    The epitome of ZOOT!
Would be great restored or retro-rodded!

My mom has told me several times about the nifty newfangled pushbutton doors on the Lincoln they had when she was a kid....

That front end IS ugly, but it's still a neat car

  7. How do you know that it was a dealer installed V8?

Thats what they were told,,and car was looked at by a Lincoln guy as they were gonna go to auction.. They say that it happened quite a bit back then as the V-12 was not the greatest motor,,also if you look at it,,its all factory lines and mounting stuff.

it may have still had it on the engine parts but not on the cars

I know i'll catch hell for this, but i'd drive one of those over a Zephyr anyday.

I don't know what the big deal is about Zephyrs anyway... i've seen them in person, and while neat to look at... are kinda disproportioned in my opinion. Too long in the back.

  17. Yer' not kidding, the '42 grille was kinda funny looking compared to post war. And that V8 conversion reminds me of the early Monte Carlo!

The reason most guys prefer Zephers? Cost and availability! That thing will probably go for six figures at auction!

I think t would look cool if the sides were open to see the engine ,,and it had that tube exhaust coming out like the old Grahams

Only 200 42's were produced, speculated only 20 or so left in existance. My Dad had one and sold it 2 years ago about the same shape. Not real high dollar cars though.

Exactly. I love the look of this car more than the Zephyr.

  27. Distributor cap is in between the water pumps, in front of the motor.
Not exactly a flathead expurt but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

Can I ride shotgun with you? Last good looking Lincoln was in 1932 IMO. :)
