My brother in law has decided he wants me to help him build a car. He was found a model a fordor he wants, but doesnt know what to do with it, where to start. I have found a few on here to show him, he really wants to keep it a fourdoor though. Any inspiration?
Saw one yesterday turned into an extended cab pickup... that works too if you get the proportions right -
I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. I've been eyeballing a '30 Dodge 4-door sedan. True, not a Model A, but close enough in general configuration (but with a few little tricks of its own!) Interested in seeing some builds, especially any fenderless cars. Don't get me wrong, fenders are cool, but my prospective project seems to be missing several!
I built this in 1967/68. Fun car with a 283 and powerglide. Sold it to finish college. I was always breaking suspension brackets - frame not boxed or supported.
I like the Model A Fordor but unless it is a 1931 slant window it will have a lot of wood. Not a show stopper, but keep it in mind. Charlie Stephens
My brother(RIP) Restored this '31 Murray, was very ill and found out his son-in-law had plans to 'Rod it after the projected funeral. Bro Bud outfoxed that sumbich, sold the car before he expired. Man was that kid pissed. That's original colors, Chickle-Drab and Gray, PPg Acrylic Enamel.
Not to HAMB friendly of a car....but I'll post it anyway.... Here is my '30 Model "A" FORDOR...6" chop, 3" Channel, 454 BBC... First pic shows it in MOCK UP stage and the last two shots show my $30.00 Rustoleum paint job I shot in the driveway 2 days ago.
Make shure you buy a late 31 fordor , they are almost identical to a 32 four door , and they have a metal floor and are not wooden bodied, also they are worth quite a bit of money when your done.
I'm in the beginning stages of building a 30 Madel A four door Sedan. Rusty (Dirty's Speed Shop) is building a killer 32 frame to set her on hi-boy style and I will chop it 4 inches, fill the top, run 16 inch chrome steelies with bias ply wide whites. For money reasons I'm going with the ol stand by SBC with a 700r tranny, 9 inch rear and 48 Ford brakes. I've got some pics of donor ideas but my dumb butt can never figure out how to post pics...just puter-stupid :~))
Baja, Yes, rear doors will be functional. The frame is a 27 T from Spirit in Mt. Home AR.... great people!! http://shop.spiritcars.com/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=110
