NO smartass:p...... No '49-'51 Merc has ever been built or will ever be built to come CLOSE to the Matranga (IMO)......the Hirohata get's many of it's cues from it....and while the Andril and Zaro Mercs came 1st, the Matranga was on another level.......

    Strong words???

    Fuck yes!:D

As far as new builds....OZ rules it...

    Matranga, Can't beat it!

    Nick.

  6. My favorite!

  7. If I seen Carey Hart with his Mercury, I'd ask him when he's gonna finish it.

Picking the best is like asking : How long is a piece of string ? Or what's the best ice cream ?
Comes down to personal taste and there is no right or wrong answer (A few cars posted look kind of wrong to me though).
Maybe it should be "What is your favorite ? "
I've had a couple 49-51's and they are beautiful cars , I really like a lot of the ones posted . I think the Matranga is hard to top , that one Rudy recently chopped is way up there , Mr. Sledge's green car is really good also . I was kidding with the Y que putos ? deal , just meant that car is hard to top is all .

    Hirohata
    Bettencourt
Dick Burgarin's-Barris built 51 hardtop. No doubt patterned after the Hirohata.
Rod Powell did a nice chopped Merc back in the day fror Tremayne (sp?) that was candy tangerine with buick headlights.

    Hirohata's my pick.

IMHO, it's just a horse race between the Hiro and the Matranga. I think they both perfected a design (50 years ago)... Haven't seen casey hart's merc (at least by that name), but it can't be better than perfect... I'd bet if you told him that he could pick just one merc out of all mercs to own, he'd probably pick one of the early barris mercs too... after all he is a merc guy:D

    Hirohata
    Wally Welch
    Jerry Quesnel
    Matranga

And probably in that order !

    Newer Mercs?

    Kevan "Sinus" Sledge's 40
    Jeff Nepple
    Javier Mejia

For newer builds those cannot be touched and there's a reason i put them in my Merc gathering last year !

Best merc ever : hirohata merc ! :D

But Moon Fire, built by Paul Bragg would be a serious contester if you change the stupid interior

I would had to my list a favorite Paul Bragg's 51 convert, and his hardtopped 50 with quanted 53 buick headlight and 51 rear fenders ! :p

K-members '52 M-1, because you could cut up a bunch of the gay street rod merc's and haul 'em to the dump in the back of it

I liked the pharoahs merc from American Graffiti. It was kinda ugly but I liked it. It was like a working mans chopped Mercury.

  24. Yea,"working mans" Merc...haha,one that doesn't know how to lower a car....

    So change the wheels
    ?????????????????

  27. An impossible question to answer... Some of the mentioned cars are on the top of my list too, but are we talking design or craftmanship? I've yet seen no kustoms that have beaten the design of Jimmy Summer's, Nick Matranga's and Sam Barris' Mercurys. Craftmanship is another thing, and the quality of Paul Bragg's, Terry Hegman's and the one that currently is being built by JDH Rod & Custom are all fantastic and a combination with great design.

  28. There could be only one best built ever so Nick Matranga's 40 Merc is definitely the best

    Definitely my favourite!

Adrian Perri's '49 bare metal Chopped & Slammed Merc.

Ripped out the rear doors. Or filled them in.

    HC.
