Yeah, it looks out of place doesn't it? My understanding is that although the car was taken apart in 66, that the builder continued to work on engines. He had big collection of Mopar. There is a Hamber that made some "one off" pieces for the blower (In fact, the Hamber's name is engraved on the blower - per Ron's request). He said the last time he saw the engine, it had eight deuces on it, but he never heard it run. The date on the engine is '57 and the family said he didn't believe in boring anything over 10, so they expected that I would find a standard bore on the engine when I take it apart? Keep your fingers crossed!

I believe AN fittings have been around since WWII.

There has been some debate as to when they started showing up on hot rods, but I agree, they look out of place. Actually, the whole car looks out of place in your garage, it belongs in MY garage!

And so it begins... The first plan of attack was to figure out the stance. Luckily I have the original wheels, tires, and aluminum firewall to gauge off of. He cut out just enough of the rear subframe to allow the frame to slide under the back of the car and up and in (at least that's what I thought).

Here we go

At the end of the night, it looks as though I will have to bob about 6-10 inches off the back of the frame and then it will tuck back in by the rear lights. The rear wheel wells were cut out to match the bottom of the frame, so I should be able to get it exact.


Unclee is coming over today to help out. Good to have muscle.

sparkplugs with the valves are early chevy v8 u had to prime motor with fuel befor starting

 

Unclelee came over and I knew we had to bob the rear of the frame to get it back to original, so I decided to use my other 32 frame that had already been cut on. So we estimated our cut and swapped the frames. One more cut and we had it.


Oh yeah baby, that's it!

I had a better grill than what was left so...

The owner's wife told me it was black but it sure looked blue so I put a little wax on it and she was right. What is a good way to retain it without painting?

Are you trying to duplicate it as it was, or keep the "spirit" of the car, and possibly improve it a bit? If so, I'd put the grille about where you have it, even with the cowl. And as for the massive channel, a "Z" hidden under the floorboard; you'd never see it from the outside.

We talked about that, but I think she needs some time to think about it and also to consult with the frame god.
