    u-joint problem
    shaft yoke measures 1.06 X 3.25
    pinion yoke 1.125 X 3.65

what is the part number on the joint that fits this?

  2. Looks like you have to find another yoke for shaft or if your lucky there might be a pinion yoke you can swap to your rear.

call any parts store that carries SKF products and find someone who knows how to operate a book. tell them to look in the back of the SKF book and if they can read, they can tell you the part number...long shot, i know, but the info is in there.

we do it's a Ford drive shaft.

  10. Take both yokes to a place that sells drive line parts for big trucks. Look for a big Spicer sign on the wall outside, lol. Go in, find the oldest counter man there and say, "I need a u-joint to mate this to this." If such an animal exists you should walk out with one in your hand, if he aint got it it don't exist. It's always worked for me.

Call the local driveline shop. There is a very common conversion joint for this.

THat was a hint to you to measure where the snap ring fits, that's the dimension the books use

  24. Funny; I opened this Thread this morning and thought "This Guy don't know what he's talking about" The numbers just didn't work. I kept my mouth shut in fear of sounding un-intelligent. My mistake I guess. Good call Squirrel, glad you got his problem solved. We are after all here to help.

  25. What the heck does it take to qualify around here?

    Not smart enough.

    Not experienced enough.

    Not cool enough.

    Not trad enough.

But not too far from the driveline shop....

  26. Spicer 5-3022x. Inside snap ring GM on one side, 2 9/16" between ears, 1 1/8" caps. Outside snap ring on the caps wthat measure 1 1/16 , touch under 3 1/2" outside yoke ear to outside yoke ear.

  27. Or because I'm too damn late again, what only gave is a u-joint for the rear of a 1985 Ford 1/2 ton pickup driveshaft.

Intelligent ? Maybe I'm missing something, but 2-3 hrs. to get a part # when a 5-10 min. phone call to the driveline shop/parts store could have done it? Maybe ignorance really is bliss.
