History 64/65 Comets old drag cars lets see pictures

The two-tone siver 65 belongs to John[Scrap Iron] Richmond here in So.Cal.The car won the A/FX class at this years Drag Fest,is injected on alky now,363"FORD,C-4,runs 10-0s.Judd,thanks for posting my 65! ROY.

 

This dark blue 64 belongs to Tim Oneil out of central cal.,runs a 393"W with a centrifical blower,runs 9:40's,all steel,full interior. ROY.

 

Dammmmm that is badass.

This is my actual barn find....for real. I found it in 1987. Gene Ellis's car and parts of my dads old car. A ujoint broke in the early 70s and ripped out the fuel and brake lines. The floor took a few hits aswell. The car sit in a barn ever since. I found when I went to look at a 64 Caliente that I found in a classified add. The Caliente was pretty rusty and the guy told be that he would throw in another parts car that had some good panels....this car. I ended up talking him out of just the Cyclone for $150.00. The car has only been painted once and is low miles since it was raced in the 60s & early 70s.

I took these a few years back in Nashville.....I'm sure these 2 are very familiar to you Comet fans.

 

Ohhhh Man!!!! I remember reading a story in SS&DI about the GT-1 flopper. It seems as though the body was sitting in the weeds somewhere and the county ordered the land owner to clean up his property. When he didn't they sent in a crusher to dispose of all the stuff. I forget who it was, but someone recognized the GT-1 Comet body (it still had the original paint and lettering on it!) and knew it had to be saved. He knew Barillaros name from his effort restoring the Sachs& Sons '64-'65 Comet and called him to come get it. Barillaro put it on another Logghe chassis he had and restored it to how it sits here. Hard to beleive that car was so close to it's demise, isn't it?

 

Both of these cars are nicely done....but not overly done. Maybe it's because they are older restrorations....I don't know but they are both very nice. I hear their shop produces some very nice one off pieces for street rods.

I have some "Hard" pics of a '65 B/FX from a Lincoln Mercury Dealer that I am friends with here in Baltimore, MD. The car is without a doubt the BEST IN EXISTENCE!!!!! I t is absolutely Brand New, Never Re-stored, Raced only once, and has been in a air-controlled environment since new in 1965. Currently, it has 42 (Forty Two) miles on it and looks like it. If I knew how to scan and post the pics I would, however, I only have a laptop and am not real good with it. I Know this sounds like Bullsh-- but believe me the car is for real. It was at the York U.S. 30 Re-union a couple years ago so maybe somebody took some photos they might share. Thanks, Dave (DW31S)

 

thats Tommy from Rhode Island...friend of my fathers. very cool car, has a 351 Windsor in it..ive been trying to load some pics, but my internet keeps dropping as i load em..and im starting to see the ones i was gonna post...haha. If you really like Comets..there is a forum named "Comet Central" they have everything from stockers to modern racers... Anyways, back to the show.

 

Here is the latest build I helped my friend do of a tribute to Dyno Dons 65 . Best et so far is a 9.06 at 147 mph.He runs it with the 422 Motorsports race team and competes in there 422 All Star Series here on the east coast.Here are some more links to pictures .

Your right but there shop is right off of RT 422 in Oaks,Pa so that is where the name came from.
