i won't to paint my stude a yellow that i saw on a new toyota FJ. anyone used that color? i call it chrome yellow.could one of you guys photo shop it for me? thanks!oh yea,i am building it early bonneville style!
Can't help with the Photo Shop, but I've always coveted one of those...esPECially the 55 Power Hawk. One of my all time favorites from the day they hit the street. YEARS ahead of their time in body design...
Years ahead of their time in more than just body design... weren't they using fuel-injection in the early '50's?
I've had two yellow cars, but that wasn't my choice. Having said that, there are two yellows I can see myself doing deliberately. One is a very pale custard yellow, like mozzarella, on something big and delicate like a '60s Cadillac or a Rolls Royce Phantom I. The other is a rich mustard that Italian manufacturers were using a lot around 1970, on something like a Lancia Fulvia Zagato. Traffic-safety yellow, though, I've had imposed against my will too often to go for, I'm afraid. But I've got no idea what kind of yellow that Toyota was.
That Toyota yellow looks just like the paint they use on curbs or some state work trucks. Not sure I like it better than some of the lighter yellows shown above. I would agree to definitely get a good photo shop with the right shade before you follow through with the actual paint job. Then post pics when you get it done! Cool car by the way.
if any of yall know the sampson coupe land speed car, that's kinda the look i'm after. thanks for all of the input so far.
The Ford chrome yellow is the best looking 'yaller' I've found- used it on numerous cars and bikes. (and I don't have to tell folks it's a toyota color.... Ed
ok, how 'bout the yeller on my F-100??.....Can't tell you what exact formula is, but it's got a more orange hue to it than most automotive yellow's. Gonna have to find an FJ and a school bus to park next to for a color comparison.
According to my local Ford dealer, the late model mustangs and F series trucks use the same code yellow. It's called Screaming Yellow. D6 is the paint code they gave me.
IF IT'S GOT A HINT OF ORANGE IN IT, THEN THAT'S WHAT I'M AFTER. THE TOYOTA COLOR ISN'T AS SCHOOL BUS YELLOW AS A SCHOOL BUS. DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? ANYWAY, IT'S THE YELLOW I LIKE. THANKS ED
As seen on my roadster....mine is good ole' 77 corvette yellow, just acrylic enamel with hardener....if you like that color, just go to the paint store, and ask for corvette yellow, CODE 52
