    FalconEddie,
Lots of neat looking race cars, but not a MP car in the bunch.

Like the Jr Stock thread, this one brought back the memories.

At some point, someone mentioned the O'Connell, Hill & Bussart F/G '57. "Hill" of course is Jim Hill, whom many of you know from the Yahoo Gasser Group.

One of my fav's,that was one of the wheels up 55's on launch ! what I thought was neat was seeing a sign on a parking spot at Island Dragway with their name on it back a few years! Is it still there? I'm partial to white 55' drag cars anyway.

Cool pics, cool thread. My dad ran Butch Lake motors for a while and ended up buying Butch Lake's Chevy II back in the 80's running it with a stick in AHRA briefly before going to the super classes. I can remember Butch winding that thing to 10k and dragging the bumper.

I can also remember wrenching on that thing every pass, fishing pieces of broken rocker arms from the heads. Hence the reason for going strictly bracket racing at a valve train friendly RPM. I just wish I had some decent video of those days. The cars were so much slower yet so much more impressive to me.

This is a pretty sweet sounding Nova that''s probably been posted before.

Bill Bussart of O'Connel, Hill & Bussart passed away just the other day, RIP Buzzard. Was in a coma on a machine & organs started going. For the best, I suppose. The boy could shift a 4 or 5 speed !

My Uncles 1957 Chevy Modified Production circa 1970. He ran a 302 out of a 1969 Z-28 Camaro in it. He did most of his racing out of Kil-Kare Dragway in Xenia, Ohio, but we hit some other Southern Ohio tracks as well.

Here's a "fun" story from Island back in the mid 70's. Maybe Ray Jr. remembers. Sorry, no pictures. Ray was running the 68 Camaro and had some kind of a braking issue in the lights. I don't remember ever hearing what actually happened (speculation at the time was that maybe the line-loc locked up) but both front tires were kaput. Mike Mausley (of Mausley and Keegan) lived a few miles from the track and we ran up to his house and pulled the front tires off of his wifes 66 or 67 Tempest and left it there on a jack. I think the tires were H-78 X15. Anyway, Ray ran the next round with a pair of whitewall tires on a set of rusty black rims instead of the normal Crager Super Tricks, wheels up and all. I don't remember the E.T being any appreciable amount slower and that is definitely the fastest those tires ever went. Glad Mike's wife didn't have to go to the store.
