This is a good example of: DON"T BE A PUSSY AND CHOP IT!

  6. Chop a perfectly good body?

Around here you don't see too many un-chopped 32's. Makes mine stand out from the rest.

But it 's what you like that counts.

    yeh, what "dirt rod" said...

it all just depends on the particular car and what overall look/style you are going for...

Wow...THANKS for all of the great input, it`s all greatly appreciated. Thanks for sharing pics of your coupes and your dimensions...it really helps. If my attachment works out there should be a pic of the new project. I`ve been tearing up the country in a plymouth 3 window for a few years now and kinda regret not chopping it. thanks for the pic of the Busby coupe...I`ve been admiring pics of it lately-any idea how much it was cut. Anyone know how much was taken out on the Milner coupe...and no I`m not building another clone. This one of mine is losing that Rocket and getting a 57 Hemi.

Two to two-1/2 inch chop for a full fendered, 2-1/2 to 3 for a no-fender highboy, three to five inches for a no-fender channeled job.

Mines about 2 1/2 in. I like it. The amount of chop usually relates to age, the younger you are the more you chop, I think. It all comes down to how much your back and neck can take can take. OH, the electric fan and power gen are now gone, don't panic!....... ;)

Someone really needs to supply the stock measurement of the windshield center, door window and the rear window for comparison purposes.
Pictures of the areas, with a measuring tape in place to show the stock height at that particular area, would be extremely helpful.

Before you do that you should know you have a very popular 5 window and they are worth anywhere between 50 to 90 thousand dollars. 5 windows are now more popular then the 3 window. Once you chop it, your car will be worth a lot less. Listen to Deuce Roadster. I'm 6ft and its a tight fit. Don't do it.

Here's mine - chopped sometime in the late 50's. Seems to be 4 to 4 1/2". Close or a little deeper chop than Hiboy32's coupe when they are side by side.

DW respectfully I have to disagree with you on being worth alot less......for example the Busby Coupe is chopped are you saying it would be worth more unchopped.

  20. I didn't realize that chopping a car was anything to do with resale value.
You learn something new every day.

    Footnote:

I also didn't realize this was a restorers forum...

These cars look great chopped. On the other hand everyone has done it to thiers. You pull into a car show unchopped and alot of people that dont know these cars well dont even recognize it because they've never seen one unchopped. Im one of them. 1st one i seen unchopped was just 3 years ago. i didnt know what it was.

My 32, has a 302cid 4 wheel disc brakes and it hauls ass. Back in the 50's and 60's.32's were chopped cuz there where so many of them. They were used for drag racing. Now they are rare, and if you have one thats not chopped, it would be wise to do your homework before you circumsize it.
