Here's a few pics of my 54 Chevy in progress... I'll cut the glass within a week or 2. The lexan/plexi is clecoed in as temporary template. The car has a metal finish - NO BONDO/FILLER. I'm the flunky helper on the project, my friend Jeff of the HoodFellas is running the show.

Nice! finnally someone who decided not to use the stock rear glass! it keeps the belt line right looking the way you are doing it. you cant just lean the factory glass like any other chop is what im referring to on this kinda car with wrap around rear window. nice work good job

Yeah, me too. Are you buying a new laminated rear window to cut? I assume you already know you can't cut the original, but I didn't know they were repopping the chevy rears.

I do have the rear in laminate. From what I've "HEARD" the newer re-pop glass is thinner and easier to cut. I've never done it so we'll have to wait and see...

amen to using the wrap around rear glass. it just looks soooo much better than a small back window. that's how mine is and it looks right. your car is lookin' really good.

I think this is my favorite 53 or Chevy post chop ever done, The 1/4 windows look killer. I just cant get enough. The beltline/window configuration just screams, "CORRECT"!

Cool, alot of times when the backlite is cut down and the beltline is correct, they have that Checker cab look but again, with the awesome 1/4 window shape you have, thething has the personality of an Ayals Bros merc! LOL

I am trying to take as many notes on this one as I can. I think I know what you guys are talking about as far as the rear quarters are concerned. Sometimes they are too short and sometimes they are stretch out to shit. These ones here seem to be a perfect length. I think the rear window works with the size of the quarter windows also. Almost give the look of a 53 hardtop merc just on that back section and as 00 MACK said an Ayala Bros. Merc from the profile and front.

yeah well i didnt know they were repopping the rear windows and i know u cant cut the factory glass down, as long as u can cut it down its all goood because i know u cant cut the factory glass down. i was just gunna say use plexi alot of cars have it for rear glass.

and alot of people use the factory rear glass without cutting it and it just looks bad

I agree 100% Merc-O, using the full sheet of uncut/stock back glass is tough to correctly pull off on a chop.

We'll be cutting a re-popped laminate rear glass. For now we're using Plexiglas as a temporary template just to get everything dialed in correctly.
