Between layout drilling welding and grinding it took me 10 hours to do this. I want to thank Jeff (gmgrunt) for making the sleeves for me.

I have been thinking about drilling 3 more hole between the perch bolt hole and the king pin. What do you guy's think about doing that?

AWESOME. I wish I had the balls to do that to mine!

  3. Not if you are going to drive it.

  4. Nice! I think this has come up a few times, and the general consensus is no, don't drill past the perch. I didn't on mine.

    dont drill any more holes.
would be a bit too tryhard..unless it was under a real early sixties nose-up drag car.

Nice work, looks great as is. Did you weigh the bones when you started, are they heavier or lighter now?:)

  12. Looks great!

Tell us more about the specifics: What kind/size/grit grinding wheel? Hole sizes? Drill speed? Anything you wish you'd done differently?

    Thanks in advance.

I thought they only filled the ends on dropped axles to hide the stretch marks?

Not true. I've seen old photos of undropped axles filled and at least one completely filled end to end.

Axle 1-1/8 drilled on 1.777 centers that leaves 5/8 between holes

Bones Used three size hole saws 1-1/2,1-1/4,1 250 rpm that's the slowest my drill press goes

    grinding I used a 4in 50grit flap wheel and a DA with 80grit

Now after I got the input I wanted about drilling more holes I'm done and there is nothing I would do different

I'm still going to peek it just need to find that tech article on how to do it

Is this want you wanted to know:D

that looks bitchin!! sweet job man.

  28. that was my thoughts as well. But, that doesn't mean you couldn't fill the ends on a undropped axle. IMHO it just originated because when you drop it, they stretch, so then you fill it to make it look pretty.

If this is a show queen, never to be driven, just polished and pushed around by hand, and trailered everywhere, then go for it.

If you plan to put in some serious road miles, and have some fun on the street, rather you than me my friend.
