I am going with a inline along the framerail with the filter, hopefully it will be alright.I had a fullsize van pump go out an let me tell you I don't want to be stranded like that again .
Yeah just trying to plan where everything should be mounted permantly is a challenge for me sometimes :). Looks like your truck is going great!
I will be driving mine in primer for awhile more than likely, I am working on getting everything inside the cab all ready to paint as soon as I figure a color that can go with any exterior color I choose . I swear I have changed color choices 3 times at least , right now it is three different color primers.....

I doubt it will see paint for a few years, but my plan is for dull grey cab/bed, and black fenders/running boards.

  4. Be sure to update with pics before Shades of the Past. I don't want to be stealing beer out of the wrong truck.

I thought I saw an a/c compressor in the earlier pics, but don't see anything under the dash. Still planning on a/c?

The A/C worked great on the donor Caddy.

The compressor is still in place, with the ports blocked off.

I have all the parts that I removed, i.e. condensor, lines, drier, etc and would like to hook it back up someday.

I don't know shit about A/C, but my plan was to use the original compressor, maybe use the stock condenser (depending how it fits), run new lines, new drier, and purchase one of those new remake underdash units from vintage air (Mach V?)

    Can this be done?

    Anybody here an A/C guru?

    Let's talk,
    Rich

    Holy Shit!

You're first post...and it makes total sense.

It would be much easier if the nut was on top.

Hey, it's my first IFS, but thanks.

    Rich,

You've got a great looking truck coming together! I've been looking here and other forums for a while and I just happened to notice the bolts. Keep up the great work and hope you get it on the road soon!

Shit, I just started a new job two weeks ago and haven't worked up the courage to ask for friday off :)

The truck isn't registered yet, so I'll be jumping in Buckshot.

Tell me more about your valve covers, are they a direct fit or did you modify them?

The valve covers are not modified, they are just a hair larger than SBC, and the end cover bolts will come down at a very slight angle.

I did trim a stock SBC gasket to fit into the channel on the stude valve cover.

They hang over the edge, maybe 1/16" all the way around.

    Don't appear to leak.

More test driving shows that she's overheating bad, pulled the thermostat, never got over 140. New thermostat goes in tomorrow.

The 700R4 was shifting crazy, couldn't decide what gear it needed to be in. I knew it had to be in the tv cable, and wondered if I ever took the tranny connection loose when I had it out. I checked it, and sure enough, it wasn't even connected.

    Shifts nice now :)

Front end alignment, whoa nelly!

    Lets not get carried away.

I mean come on, who doesn't like the 'lottery-O-steering' (Step right up folks, who knows which way it'll go next ).;)

Looks good, let us know what you wind up with for alignment and how you like it.:)

I've got a '50 Jimmy that's in the 'gathering' stage at this point.

So I got to thinking about the exhaust, and the lack thereof, and figured it would be pretty simple to do it myself, especially if I just dumped it down right before the rear axle.

Since I scored good deals on stainless headers and mufflers, I splurged and bought 12 feet of polished stainless tubing and two stainless u bends, and started...

Tigged with stainless rod, and hung with stainless fasteners.

    No sound whatsoever!
