Why have I never seen this before? That is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool!

  4. If memory serves, it was unsuccessful & got parked quickly....evil-handling through the traps with all the aerodynamic tricks, according to an old Peterson Publication I've got stashed somewhere. I may be thinking of the four-engined car, though, that was sponsored by Galpin Ford around the same time.

Have to do some digging tonight. :)

I also read the car ran better without the body and was quickly shelved. I think Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen drove it.

    Wow, That thing is crazy!!

  14. The car ran extremely well for what it was, but couldn't compete in top fuel. Due to it's weight (very light) and cubes (over 500) it was put into AA/Fuel (top fuel today). It could not comete with the blown cars. Plus it was hard to handle as I remember. However, it was one sweet machine.

The Super Mustang is one of 13 cars from the Early Years of Drag Racing that will be at the Concours - also Dyno Don Nicholson's Comet, Color me Gone, Cates Willy's, and others. 300 cars from 25 states, probably the best and most ecclectic collection of cars this show has ever seen. A rare 1953 Fiat 8V, 1939 Delahaye 165 - one of the best designs ever - McLaren Engined Race cars, Classics, Brass Cars, Wayne Carini of Chasing Classic Cars will be filming. A Must see -

Barb Hamilton will be there with her 37 Willy's, and Steve (ftroop) will be there with the Prock and Howell 33 Willy's, I'll have my Triumph Daytona there for the "Tribute to British Twins". It should be a really good time. By the way the Concours D'elegance is at Meadow Brook Estate in Michigan, Sunday, Aug.2. Todd

Is that the worlds fastest Bubble top?

  24. Tom McEwen piloted it.....never was very competitive....had a sprung rear end versus a typical solid one...short wheelbase and over the top streamlining....there was an overhead shot of the whole Ford team on here a while back with Kalitta, Gas Ronda, this car, etc....
But its still damn cool to look at...

Just saw it live last week! It's in central Canada. We were told not to post pictures on the net.
