I hate you all, I have my 401 back but all the good parts got sold off on me.
Anyone want to sell me a Hilborn injection set up, finned timing chain cover (Preferably with engine mounts on it) and a set of good heads??

    PLEASE!!

    Doc.

  12. Old Wolf...
any idea how that thing ran? do the rochester's have any part numbers on? Just wondering if a set of stock rochester 4G's would work....
O Yah, if you don't need them crusty red valve covers, send them this way....haha

Just picked up a weiand intake and never thought about using the stock carbs...

Anyone know about using a set of 4G's vs. AFB's?

  13. I havent heard this run yet. A dumb ass took it out so he could replace it with a 350 chev and a sissy auto trans. i have the bell and two cad lasale 3speed trans. I have ran two stock rochester 4GC carbs before. I adjust so it will idle on both carbs and both open at the same time. The 401 was sitting and mud daubers got inside. I pulled the pan and intake and valley covers to clean them out. I also have a 56 322 and a offy trans adapter to attach a early ford trans or mini bell. i plan on installing the 401 in a 50 chev sedan delivery . Thinking of using a econoline van straight axle front and a 8 lug chev rear with a no spin center:eek:. OldWolf

Hey old wolf can you post a better pix of them headers

If you want to sell them valve covers let me know

    Tom

  15. Those are TRI Y headers. Will post better pictures later. I seen a pair of those wieand valve covers sell for over $700.oo on ebay a few months ago. However with any auction you cant be shure if everything is on the up and up. I got the engine cheap enough that i can afford to keep it:) .Its not for sale at this time. If i do ever decide to sell it would have to be a package deal. Lots of neat goodies on this thread:cool:. OldWolf

  16. Here are the pic of the headers. also the intake. And weiand air cleaner also. OldWolf

Here is what I have picked up for my 401. Valve covers and valley cover is Moon's. Intake is a 66 GS Q-Jet and distributor is Dual Coil with Mallory coils. Damn this stuff is expensive but I still need to spring for a trany adapter for a 700r4. Oh! the shopping cart was stolen but I know nothing about that!

Just in case you dont know already, the aluminum valley covers dont work with the stock intakes.

I've got an EELCO aluminum finned valley cover and a stock intake.

Did you mean the dual quad intake? Mine's the stock single quad. It works fine.

I have the dual quad factory intake. I assumed that the single quad would have the same problem. That's what I get for Assuming. Anyway I bought one at the Decatur swap meet that I cant use with my 2-4's. Giess it will go on the wall for a while.

Intake spacers should cure your problem, no?

The heat riser is what hits the pan all you have to do is grind some of the fins not a big deal.

Intake spacers have shown to loss power on the dyno

I did and happy with what I paid and received. I did know that the q-jet intake takes a special valley pan but plan on running risers.

I milled a little off the center fins and it fits just fine with the stock cast iron dual quads.
