    Hey Tony;
    I'm 99% sure it's Indy 65. I just thought that because they were both H/SA cars with the same number that there might be a connection. I didn't know that numbers were handed out by entry date at that time. Great info, Thanks!

    It'd make one heck of a street rod or tow vehicle. WE could drop in an old Caddy or Buick Nail Head with three twos. Let's buy it!!!!

    The second photo is from the '63 Winternationals. Note the flagman.
    The 57 Chevy H/SA #709 is Ron Rogers from Redondo Beach, CA. He is listed as Class Champion at [email protected] mph. Can't tell you who #677 is.

    Regards

    The first photo is Gerry Robinson, Dublin, Pa. See post #3237 for a closer picture. The year is '64 or '65 not sure without researching it.

    Here's a '58 Pontiac stocker but not of the drag racing variety...

    ...back when stock cars were actually 'stock.' How 'bout that?

    Just joined the forum and saw my late father's name on the list of NHRA Junior stockers. My father, Ed Collier, was a 1967 NHRA and six-time IHRA National Champion. The car was a 1965 Barracuda named "Precious". Ed also raced AMA hare scrambles and motocross with great success and I have worked on IndyCar pit crews for the past ten years.

    Any memories or photos of my dada or his car would be great!

    Anybody have an update on how the restoration is coming on Tim's 55? Has it been started?

    According to my friend Steve Kershuk that car was a High School Auto Shop project that Tommy helped out.

    This car was for sale on ebay back in 2001 and through talking with the saler, I believe he did get in touch with Tom who may have bought it back. Hopefully some one can confirm as to whether he did or didn't. Wish I had kept pictures of the car. It wore its original paint, though well faded and if I remember correctly, the motor and trans were gone.

    Also, if you own the Complete Chevrolet book number 1, you'll find an article inside. It also appeared on the cover of Complete Chevrolet book number 2? maybe 3. Can't recall which one.

    Does anyone know what hapened to the Dempsy Hardy/Bob Dwyer Crockagator 54/55? Studebaker stocker after it was too old to race. Two others were involved but I dont recall their names, one was Dinsmore I think. Also the where abouts of Dwyers SS/IA 63 Blower Lark after he passed away ? I saw that car run 11.19 30 years ago. Had an Edelbrock Victor small block Chevy intake with epoxy adaptors on it. Bob ran a touch more boost then the factory on it, with a C4 and a Ford rear. He said nobody knows what comes in Studebakers. I heard it went to a bracket racer and has never been seen again.

    AHRA Stocker standout Derel Filligim's Geronimo 58 Pontiac. The car won the 1969 AHRA Spring Nationals at Bristol with another Texan behind the wheel by the name of Bill (Mr. Bardahl) Heilscher.

    Welcome to the group Mr. Collier. Your Dad did receive a mention in the 1968 Car Craft magazine Stock preview section. I'll be sure to post any photos I find of the Barracuda.

    In answer to your question about the Crockagator Stude,i bought the car and all the spare parts off of Dempsey Hardy in Ft.Lauderdale Fla.i think that it was in 1972 or 1973.the car at that time had 3 names on it,Hardy,Weeks and Densmore,Dempsey delivered the car to me at my house in Coral Springs,it was in the back of a U haul truck,he pulled up in front of my house just when it was getting dark,and proceeded to use concrete blocks and wood planks to unload it,very shaky,anyway when it was unloaded he took it up the street and proceeded to come back at us,going through all 3 gears,what a thrill!i never raced the car and sold it when i left Fla. in 1974,i paid $1,000.00 for the car and all the spare parts,my name is Gerald Berry,and i live in Grand Island,Fla.
