Speaking of that the old sign off of Ih-10 in Beaumont, if you Texas guys know what im talking about, was for sale at a car show / swap meet last year. Its still up on the pole, its a big ass sign, some guy turned it into a hot rod shop I think? Anyone know about it? I would love to have that sign but its bigger than my garage.

Unfortunately, Pearl and Lone Star lost their appeal (at least to me) when the independant companies were swallowed up by a large corp. and production was moved to Miller Brewing. I'm not sure but I think Miller brews Pabst now too.
Maybe when Texas secedes, they'll move the breweries back to San Antonio.

  8. Is there any affiliation with Frosty's in Denton? Went there tonight for some of there homemade rootbeer, dang it was good!

I guess being north of the Red River makes me a yankee. Oh well I love Shiner Bock and Shiner Black, Dr. Pepper, Texas country Pat Green, Wade Bowen, and the rest. We always have to stop at the last Jack in the Box on 35 heading back north, even if we have to pay someone to go through the drive thru for us since our sprint car trailer won't fit. Can't beat them two tacos for a dollar, minimum sale for us is usually forty. Hell I love Texas, always a good time to be had down there. But at least in Oklahoma you can buy beer up until two in the morning and not have to drive to the next suburb to get beer. We race at the Devil's Bowl in Mesquite a couple of times a year.

I was born and raised in San Antonio and finally got to Austin a few years ago..Hell, in S.A. everything north of the Colorado river is Yankee land and Austinites were so hip and groovy they were suspect as well!..pray for rain folks, as usual its probably gonna take a Hurricane to break this spell..real BBQ makes it own sauce..peanuts in a Dr.Pepper is an aphrodisiac..the only thing that cuts a barbacoa taco is a Big Red..the peanuts as teeth is the funniest joke ever..I have an uncontollable urge for a Frostie rootbeer and an orange cupcake, reminds me of my childhood.. we drive Chevy Pickups with hundreds and hundreds of thousands of miles on them..guns,tits,guns,tits..and finally, in my old age, I've managed to work in a freezer all day..Shiner is essential to Life...I Love ever one of Y'all...

Tom's Brand Peanuts + Dublin Dr. Pepper = Rotten Toofed Goodness

Hence the comment about leaving them in your mouth til they feel like you got your teeth back.

Ahhh, to paraphrase the immortal words of the great Mr. Foxworthy...

    Texan: "you wanna Coke?"
    Okie: "Yup"
    Texan: "What kind??"

But you can't buy it cold. That's just Un-American! Is that a state law or just in every county that I've driven through? No cold beer....pfft. That's just Communist!

    Texas

There's a place not too far away from here
Out with the cows and the Lonestar Beer
Where the livin' and lovin' is quite alright with me
Well they call it Texas it's a might fine place to be

It runs from Texarkana to El Paso
    Oklahoma down to old Mexico
And there's Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antone
People in Texas sure do make you feel at home

They just want everybody to leave them alone
While they drink their whiskey and roll their own
And they like their music with a little bit of Southern Sound
Kick up their heels every evening when the sun goes down

You can call it country and they don't care
And if you don't like the way they wear their hair
You can take your lights and shove 'em on up the line
People in Texas don't care if the sun don't shine

You can't get good beer cold, and not after 9pm, and not on Sunday. You can get 7-11 water beer (3.2%) cold until 2am, (used to be 24 hours).

Yes, a state law, and yes,... reeks of a communist dictatorship.

Well, yes.... Unless you are from Limestone County, then it's pronounced "mah-hay-er".

Trust me, I grew up in that neck of the woods.

Still another -- try REFUGIO: Re-few-ree-oh. And don't forget QUITAQUE: Kitty-kway. I still haven't figured how that one works.

I grew up on the TXLA border in LA and lived in College Station for 8 years. I moved back home to Cajun Country, but would move back to Texas in a heartbeat. Where else can you find good food, good beer, good friends, fast hotrods and sexy women all in one place. GOD BLESS TEXAS!!
