I've owned three Caddy hearses and always wanted a flower car. This one is my dream car (one of many) ...
Dear Gawd!!! What a waste of a perfectly good Riviera. That breaks my heart. I want to find that guy and put a boot up his ass!
Busy with an early '30's Dodge at the moment(I'm only doing the sheetmetal). Sedan back had been cut off and reattached at the door post. Obviously done more for practicality than aesthetics. Remaking the rear panel below the window to get those beltlines lined-up. I'll post some better pics when I'm done in about a week or so. Barry
I think you're talking about this one, about which I wrote back in October, 2008. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=300637&highlight=54+ford
This would have to be one of the nicest pickups i've seen on this thread. When i here 39/40 merc all i think is taildragging sled. Sure give the builder of ths fine hauler the thumb's up!
Recently acquired this roofless '58 Superior flower car: This is what it looked like originally: Rather than return it to stock, I did a number of renderings. The plan is to shorten a '59/'60 GM 4D HT roof and reshape the fins more akin to a '57, echoing the backlight angle while optically adjusting the commercial chassis' length: Large diameter wheels may not be HAMB friendly yet tastefully offset the monstrous 251" length (156" wheelbase). In this configuration, the bed is still 8' 2". Roof swap equates to 3" lower than stock with the windshield laid back almost 5". Chopping it further unfortunately unbalances the proportions. Acquiring parts for this project and will start a thread when the build is underway. Found a '60 Buick parts car for the roof with a broken windshield already so I could still use a different more complete donor car in central Texas if someone can steer me in the right direction. Also need to find a '57/'58 rear bumper (or at least bumper ends) if you know of one in a yard.
The 39 merc truck is one of the best ive evr seen, i also wish i had a bucket full of cash! here are some more kool ones: The 1st two are from europe, the 58 camino and the other cad-ish truck, while the rest are from the US, the last one is more of a Rancho w/ edsel front clip than an edsel turned into a truck but still gives an idea of the potential of the edsel as a truck-ster.
No, no no no no no NO! Oh HELL NO! Not a center door T? FUCK! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Oh for the love of gawd man NO! Why? WHY!!! Oh, the humanity.
That Rivera is all wrong, yuck. To start with the Dodge box is square and the car is round and smooth.I see why it ended up in a junk yard.I saw a 49 merc with a late model Gm box grafted to it in Salina Leadsled show a couple years ago that looked pretty cool, nice job.It was obvious the body man knew what he was doing to make it look like it belonged there.
My avitar is my current project 47 frazer cut in half back of the cab and lift off roof are hand formed, the box is a shortened s 10 box that was reskined and has 51 chevy truck fenders
Speedsterinc's Truck is bad asss I have been trying to beat him out of it. It is a neat little truck. he did a damn good job on it.
Take a close look at the pic again, Doc. Looks like a 4-door to me. If it WAS a center door though...I agree with your post 100%
