I guess what really amazes me the most is that folks claim they need to use $500 worth of aluminum to save 30 lbs of weight on a street car...

Your tail lights are crooked ha ha...............

  8. Probably the only thing I don't like is the rumble seat deck lid hinges and latch. They look like an after thought:D:D:D

I love it!! Those taillights are great!

Paul - can't wait until you get this thing built. Looking sharp - we'll definitely need to take some pics.

    Thanks Mike, Anytime!

Not a whole lot of visible progress. Some times you get caught up cleaning rusty little things and the time just flies by. I did make a frame for the decklid and started to reinforce the body on the inside. It's amazing how one or two little braces can make it sooo much more rigid... Also the roof came off so I can start on it. The panels are for a tudor. They're a little wider and I'm gonna leave them that way so the roof opening flows straight to the seam in the rear. That will keep it sqaure and facilitate the fabrication of a sliding ragtop (like early ragtop vw). Give it a chance, I'm sure it will fit the car just right:) And BIGTIME thanks to Bob Bleed for hooking me up with some tasty roof sections to use as patch panels!

Wish I knew you were looking for those taillights. I sold a pair of NOS 37 Chrylser tails with bezels and lenses for like $75 on epay about 6 months ago. Would have given them to you if I knew!

    Nice progress man!

Dreddybear, I reckon the idea of a folding rag-top is a damn fine idea!Nice job on the decklid repair, looks a lot more solid than mine.I look forward to the next installment of the build!

Been following this build since you announced it on the HAMB. Fantastic write up, thanks for sharing!

Do you have rails for this sliding rag top or are you going to fab them up from scratch? I ask because I want to see how you implement it. My woman and I are planning something similar for her 1930 A Sedan. I am also trying to determine what to do with my 30 Coupe opening...maybe something like a panel that lifts out of the roof in case it rains...nah, I live in Phoenix, it is to keep the sun from frying me on the road.

I had a rag top section for a early 60s VW, 2 bar roll not the 3 bar roll...kind of wish I still had it..sold it too cheap for something stupid if I remember correctly. Sour Grapes determine that "The VW curvature would be all wrong for an A. ALL WRONG!" -Christopher Walken's voice over

Yeah, that makes me feel better...

Wish I was as far along on my project as you are with yours.

Thanks! As for the rails I'm just gonna make em. I have a pretty good idea of how they should go together. My goal is for it to look almost stock when it's closed...

    Don't be a vagina just build a Roadster next!!!:D:D

I think it's a pretty cool idea actually. There is nothing better then having the open sky open for viewing while driving a Hot Rod, but then again there is nothing cool about sunburn on the top of the dome. But you're always wearing hats so that's not really an issue.

very nice. Did you get that wheel on there yet? Tell me what rubber you're using and how wide the hoops are. I can't decide if I need to widen my rear wheels.
