Geez guys, what a start! You jumped the gate a bit, but I'd have knocked it off the hinges if I had anything like those to post! Great start!

  9. Nice start, guys.

Since 2004 I have been creating a coloring book for the Cruzin' the Park car show here in the Detroit Metro area. A buddy and I put on a color contest for the kids at the show and give the books and some cool diecast cars away to everyone and bikes to the winners in each age group. It is a blast.

Anyway, I started doing some concept sketches for this years cover and figured I would post them and the previous years cover art....

Obviously, there will be the park-like background and lettering added.

    Finally something from me.
There is a story to this one. After scanning the painting, I clear coated it, and put it out on top of our car outside to dry.

My wife went shopping with it on top. It was not there when she came back.
I went out looking for it and spotted it on the road as a car was going over it.

Hardly anything even happened to it.
    Whew!

Is it your B-Day Jeff? If so Happy Birthday!
Always look forward to all the artwork that gets posted.

My sons cub scout pine wood derby car. With a lot of "assistance" from dad.

He wanted to design it after the Bonneville car "The Red Head". I told him it might be impossible, but we'll try.

Turns out the car was way to heavy with all the bondo on it. Had to drill out nearly all the pine just to lighten it up. I was quite proud of the design he choose and my limited sculpting skills, and we had to ruin it by drilling nearly all the wood out. Now it's just a Bondo shell. We didn't win any races with it.

Well this one is on a somber note, a great friend and fellow rodder Bill Strassburg passed away suddenly a few months ago. We decided to build a custom urn for his ashes. All of Bill's car were black and include a 1932 Sport Coupe, 1947 Ford convert and a 1937 Humpback ford sedan... only fitting we use Hotrod black for his remains. He also was ready to have us woodgrain a 38 deluxe dash to put in the 37. So a pair of woodgrain Ford hubcaps welded back to back was in order. His family was thrilled to get it and Bill is traveling in style to the MSRA Back to the Fifties where they are having a small memorial.... Sure do miss ya Bill!!!!!

Just a couple of fun (for me, anyway) kitchen table sketches again this week ...with some crude digital airbrush colorizing.

    Norwell this is awesome!!
I am a fan of the Phantom 409 race team.
Jim, Jim, and Winston must be honored to have the Phantom and Winston penned by Jeff Norwell.

Their project truck hauler for the 55 is going to be awesome too.
maybe even another inspiration for some fantastic Norwell art!
