thats pretty sharp. i like that idea for doing a removeable hard top. good luck on engineering the rear latch system. on a different note,...what suspension and tire/wheel are you running? looks low without being ridiculous.
Slowly getting there Working on getting the skeleton for the top complete before it is re skinned. more info is at th metalmeet.com site. Rex Rogers
Nice project, or should I say project(s). Damn!!!Two 32's??, a pickup and a hardtop. I like your style. The chop looks killer and especially liked this shot. Cant wait to see more as well as check out the removable top mechanisms. Keep em coming. Thanks!!! Chevnut
Okay, the silence speaks volumes. Not sure about this chop any more! Your losing the look of the nicest roof in 50s Chevyland! I can't be the only one thinking this way? Or am I missing something? Dom
it looks great man! I like that it's different and tasteful!! I say finish it, but it's your car, your decision!! Ian
I really was digging the roofline with the small original window but I think it lost some flow with the filled rear corners.
The back glass has yet to be decided on so the rear look of the car will change some. the rear window will be smaller than original Chevy. spent a lot of time on Rik hoving site looking at pics for this thing really like the flow of some of the Carson tops only in steel. those panels need some more shape on the top side to help the rear roof line look more like the rest of the car. Rex
forgive my doubts here, but, if you wanted it to look like a styline with a chop you should have chopped a sedan and not the hard top. It no longer looks like "the" hard top. It really was looking good before you lost the three rear pieces of glass. Though you were going this way.
the sail panels definatly need some more shape. i want to get back some of the origional style of the car one though i had today was to add some legth to the roof and bring the crown clser to the package tray. the main reason for getting rid of the wrap around glass is due to the removable top, and to get close to the drawing of the top that we have. I will try to post a picture of the drawing tomorrow. it iswork in progress. Rex
man...dug the first set of photos, then had to hit the brakes once i saw what youre doing in the back. ouch. yeah, ya lost me with that action...
I want to say that is the biggest E wheel I have ever seen. and I liked the first photos. When I saw the rear window filled I stopped for a moment but then carried on as I knew it wasnt the finished product. its your view and mental image, do it how you want. I love Merc rear windows 49-50 in these but thats because they are so universal. I wouldnt mind seeing something else just not sure what just yet. Nice job and great fab work!
Here's a 51 that was featured in RJ recently. One of the nicest i've seen for sure and look at the rear window!
Which issue is that raunchero? To me, it looks like they took a bit of crown out of the back of the roof, and left the rear quarter windows in the stock location instead of sliding them forward as the top came down (if that makes any sense).
