Hey! That's the Kansas Aviation Museum - it's a great art deco era building with lots of neat artwork - inside and out. I love that place!

 

I think it used to be a train station.

 

thats where mickeys having his starliner car show sept 12 the cars will be parking with the planes and you will be able to go up into the tower and take some killer pictures of the cars the museum is really neat they are fixing it up and the pictures of mic where taken when he was getting up from shooting some pictures down low just thought i would miss with him lol

 

I just looked at a larger pic of that building and it is great. On the top center, that's an actual bas relief sculpture of a plane, I think, flying over ocean waves .

Those Lincoln caps are looking good.

We had a great weekend on our way to Delano car show (Wichita) we hit some
shops on the way up. Jeff Meyers in Ark City Ks was our first stop. Jeff is working
on soom kool stuff for Salina.



After a tour we all kruized to a local diner for bite to eat. It was kool to watch his Caddy
cruizin the streets.




Then to JD's house to look at his current roadster project. The frame work is killer.
Our final stop was Yblock's house What a day and we hadn't made it to the
show yet.

Delano was a very koool show mark it on your calendar for next year.

Travis took some killer photos while riding shot gun with Dustin (Hvychvy)







We had some kool quotes this weekend. We took our time so we stopped a lot and for
the first five minutes, the first thing that Travis would say was "WHAT!! What did you say?"

The second kool line is on the way home we stopped at toots in Howard,Ks to get a bite
to eat and Dustin got out of his Hot Rod and was checking the bottom radiator hose. He
looked back at travis and said " its not anti freeze, so it must be oil that is hitting you in
the face."

Dustin (Hvychvy)won one of the kool trophies that were giving away. He won the Best "Rat Rod"
trophy. His Hot Rod is far from a rat rod, it 100% Hot Rod. Here is a picture of Dustin
posing with the award.

Glad ya got home Ok. It was kool to hang out with ya.......






The Aviation Museum in Wichita is a kool place to visit. I'll have more on the "Starliner" later......

Your right the building has a large wow factor...

If your into Kustoms you have to love old art Deco buildings. When
you drive up to the Museum your first impression is over whelming

Wichita is blessed to have such a kool place.

Looks like you guys had a great time. I haven't been back to Kansas is way too long. I's like to make it down for one of the runs. It looks like a gas.
Do you guys know about the Beaumont Hotel? Airplanes can taxi right up to the parking lot from the landing strip. it's on the way to Howard.

LOL, don't know how I missed this earlier. Great pics. Looking forward to the Starliner in in September. Took the T to Mulvane a couple weeks ago so i know it will make it.

Not sure they still do , was a big deal years ago , i'll find out . We used to fly over from Beech for lunch once in a while. Just talked to one of the guys and he said they were still doing it last year and thinks they still do it today, grass strip and all.

 

You're a Beechcrafter? I was too in '80. Got laid off but I really like working there.

 

Mickey is a true car guy - the events he produces are second to none! I love to see that Merc on the road.
