    seriously? ok, why not

it means the part, piece or unit is one twentyfifth the size of the original piece.

in other words, if the original was 25 feet long, the 1/25 scale one is going to be a foot long

the way i understand it is that 1/24 is 1 x 24 = full size (whatever it is).

  8. I was going to build a model that was 1/pi, but then I realized that would be irrational.

This is simply the difference in size. for example - Most R/C's are 1:28 or 1:24. This means that for every one inch/cm on the R/C car there are 28 or 24 REAL inches/cm's on the REAL car. (I got this off a you tube posting.)

nah, thats not irrational... THIS, however, IS

in my opinion, a 1:3.141 car might be fun

I think someone got it but if not next time Listen to your Math Teacher !

OK , 1/25 is the same as 1"=25" or 1' = 25' and so on OR look at it this way , if you bought a Plastic model or a die cast car that is 1/25th scale it means inflate the car 25 times and it is full size !
    Now do you understand ??????

RC cars are usually 1/10th scale. But there are 1/12th and 1/8th scale varieties as well. It's the ONLY thing I got out of my childhood :D

1/10 th scale line up ten of those models bumper to bumper, and they will end up being as long as the real car. 1/8 th scale 8 models bumper to bumper will be as long as the real car. etc. etc.

Thank you for the answers to my question.

    The smart-ass remarks were great
    especially due to the fact
you have to be reasonably intelligent to get them

I always understood that 1/24 was 1/2 inch to the foot and 1/25 was 1 mm to the inch

1mm to the inch would be 1:25.4. That 0.4mm can really throw things out.
