  3. Long live the van !!!! Lets bring em back.

  4. Found some old photos of my first van. It was featured in Petersens Complete Book Of Fords, Complete Book of Painting, Complete Book of Engine Swaps from 1972-3. It was called the Wabbit Wagon.

Found all but one of the books.

It was a '62 Ford with a 144 cu in 6 and a 3 speed. I swapped in a 289. Bill Carter's shop was in No.Hollywood accross the street from Valley College. I saved up to have him Pin Stripe it with a playboy bunny head and flames.

Inside it was paneled and had the thickest pad and deep shag carpet I could get. It was cool. I hung out with some of the guys from the Vandits on Van Nuys back then

The chick is better lookin now. Just met her again after 30+ years. She did much better then the van. I had heard it was crashed about 74

I had a 66 GMC van in the late 70's. I put a 292 6 in it, had mags, panelled interior, carpet, etc. Went from Alberta to San Deigo in it, and to assorted Van meets. Good times!

I have no interest in getting another van, but it would be "Far Out" if they did make a come back...Boogie!!!

  8. I think I was made in the back of a Van ,maybe thats why I dig em !!!! I want to build one.

  9. I don't have a pic but i have a story.. I bought a motor off of an old skool SoCal hot rodder and kinda poked and prodded for some good old back in the day hot rodding stories.. the one i got out of him was about an ol 60's Ford van.. the crazy guy and his brother stuffed a 401 Nailhead in the thing somehow.. he said it would pull the wheels off of the ground.. How that for a sick van?

  10. I dig those old vans, when I left art school in 1977 I picked up an airbrush and painted murals for a few years... ah the hippie life, Ted Nugent blasting and acrylic lacquer fumes. ;)

  12. Find a '70s nostalgia site.

About the only vans that I recall from the '60s had about a dozen hippies or 3 surfers living in them.

Sorry...guess I should have explained it better, It's just a picture I had, I never owned the Van. I don't even remember where I downloaded the pic from. I was brousing some old car sites (the HAMB maybe?) looking at car pics and my 10 yr old son wanted me to save the pic. He has good taste in cars!

I saw that van at a open house in CA. I got some pictures of it. It was 4 linked in the rear and i guess a ladder bar in the front with a panhard bar. Of course it was on air bags too. Here are some of the pics I got.

    Later,
    Chad

I <3 vans. When I was a kid they were the rage so I'd see them at car shows and always wanted one.

I remember one had a fountain in it with a kid peeing, that really made an impression on me LOL

    Ahh the good ol' days!

  26. It's a Bedford CF , made for the UK and Europe mid seventies.. It was chopped, de-seamed, put on hydraulics, and had a Supercharged V8 mid engine.

I like the side windows and windshield on these Chevy's. It's got a strong 250 in it, too. Gonna be fun. I think I found something I can wrap my brain around and throw some heart into again. I'm gonna get rid of the home made rear side windows.
