Perhaps one day you guys will realise that the rest of the world sits on the right hand side and drives on the left hand side.

Perhaps one day guys will stop rolling out that ol' chestnut too....or not

  10. Give em another thirty, forty years - they´ll grow weary of it eventually.:D:p

Lovely car by the way. Seen it in the flesh a few times and had a chat with the owner.
Riley motors, I am given to understand, look the part, but aren´t exactly going to put you on the pole at Indy.

I've loved that car for years. Used to stare at it a lot on Mart's Real Hot Rods well before I discovered the Jalopy Journal or the HAMB.

Easily one of the most beautiful roadsters around.

Is that the exhaust pipe running INSIDE the passenger comartment? If so, I bet that it sucks to ride shotgun.

That would be British Riley engine and nothing to do with George Riley - yes? They built some cool DOHC fours post WWII.

74 countries still drive on the left (166 on the right) and a little bit of history here as to why - it dates back to medieval times when knights used to joust on horseback. In order to present as small a body target as possible, and seeing how the majority of people are right handed, they used to hold their lance in their right hand and pass each other on the left, so that their lance was 'opponent side' of their body. I guess lefties couldn't wait for the invention of the automobile to move to one of the 166 countries which drive on the right.;)

I'm guessing there will be some sort of removable sub floor in there to cover it

Yes, it has an English Riley 4 cylinder engine.
Al Stevens built the car for Jim Pantal.
Jim caught Al at the right moment just when he fancied biulding a body in aluminium. Als rather a reclusive character and built Jim's car probably getting on for 10 years ago. His most recent project was with Hans Pater Wurmli on Hans Peter's cool black 32. The one with the d-type jag wheels.
The pics on my site were taken by Jim.
