Anyone know about old flatbottom boats?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Groucho, May 10, 2009.

  1. I've seen old boat threads here before, so...............................
How can I tell what this is? It's got 1965 Hmde (home made?) on the title. Anyone? Any idea where else to ask? BTW, it's got a PONTIAC in it;). Thanks guys

cool boat man, congrats, you can go here http://www.v-driveboats.com/
and ask for info, I am pretty sure its not home made, looks late '60s early 70's to me. the real early boats had more freeboard, that one looks fairly short (height wise). there were many boat mfgs. good luck, looks like a fun boat. If you have never had one before you are in for more fun behind the wheel than you can imagine! its a blast

  6. Yes, it's mine as of today. It's got an Offy dual quad intake with some sort of "risers" for each carb. Thanks for the tip

I know, its a cumbersome website, you may have to contact them via email send pics and ask for help, they may want you to join the club, not sure. I used to belong and they do put out a pretty good newsletter with lots of ads and tech etc.

could maybe be a sanger, definately not a rayson craft, Ive had a few of them and yours is different, like I said before lots of mfrs with pretty similar boats.

here is a pic of a rayson craft, you can see how there is a dip in the rail that runs back on each side from the dash area back where yours is straight, I think that may be one of the features that will help ID it

Ive got to agree with Rodhotz - Looks like a Hallett hull - Most of them were V drives that I ever saw, and had a cavitation plate that ran from the center of the boat all the way to the rear. My next door neighbor (CHP officer ) had one - great boats - Jaxx
