I've got too many projects (i just bought a 100+ yr old house that needs full restoration, so im buried...,) so figured i'd share in the love of a likely good find....

The "Moon Rocket" '55 Tbird won at the Oakland Roadster Show in '57, as well as many other shows around the circuit.

It's still owned by the builder and has been sitting on blocks for 50 years.

Go get it and be thankful to me if you can get a good deal.....

  4. Loved that car when I was a kid. Hope it does to a good home and we get to see a series on another survivor.

  8. Neat to find the old stuff like this. Looks good from behind, but the front view not so much. Looks like two different cars to me...no flow.

Wow, just the other day I was sitting in the bathroom reading the little pages (Custom Cars: pictured) about how Jerry with-drew from the final four as he was a judge for the 14' trophy. And here's the car...... Cool stuufffff

The engine pictured is in a boat, and the one pic of the car you can see that it doesnt have the engine in it, SOOOO did he take that engine out of the T bird and put it in a drag boat?

Its the Jerry Anolik "Moon Rocket" as seen here in the Teaneck N.J Autorama! You west coast boys can take full credit for this one and remember it when ya talk about how awful east coast cars were!

i didn't call Jerry because i *really* don't need another car, and i fear that if i called him and went over.... i would.

that said, im very interested in what he has to say and what he's asking--- so whoever calls, post up what you learn.

With a face like that, there is no wonder why it hasn't come out until now. Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder.

I appreciate its heritage and hope it gets restored to its old show quality. Its a one off loaded with our obsessions history (The next fucker to call this just a hobby gets decked), sure its not my taste (UGLY!) but I do love it.......

Andy southard mentions in one of his books that the guys used to "rib" him about the front clip.
I think it had been totaled in the front, and that was how he gotit, and that was his solution....hisorical,yes. pretty (to me) ,no.

Indeed. A LOT of customs (and hot rods in general I suppose) back then were butt ugly, from the concepts to the paint. But they were wierd and fascinating, eh? More like "baby steps" in the evolution of customizing. You fall a lot before walking well. Gary

I don't really like the car that much but love the history. Like everyone else, I wonder what he wants for it?
