...Okay, enough already. I'm not against red wheels, they have there place, but I just can't see them enhancing the look of your ride, just my opinion:)

I agree that red wheels have been over played quite a bit and 90% off all shit mobile rat rods have them but there are still some very nice traditional hot rods and customs that are running them.

Here's my contribution to this thread which I'm sure wont last long.

that looks great. I'm just not sure...mine is a "traditional" rod..so I don't know..The chrome smoothies look just fine now..I just don't want the red wheels to turn into the "pre-worn" jeans of the rod community..

After looking at the photoshopped pic of your car I would think painted wheels that match your roof color would look great. Then you could have some red pinstriping put on the rims to give the continuity of the red trim from the rest of your car. Plain red rims would make your car stand out less and actually cheapen its appearance. Just my $.02

I just don't want to pull up to a show and have people say "oh god another guy with red wheels!"

Mine's got red wheels. I like 'em. The Plymouth will wear them 'til I get tired of them (and by then the Plymouth won't be black any more either).[IMG]

  17. I tried to ask a similar question awhile back and the thread got closed after about 3 replies. I think you have the same curiosity that I've got and that's this:

I'm always impressed by the "groundbreaking" cars or the guys who truly come up with something different. However... I have also seen guys who built nice cars with good fab work but really didn't do anything special that hasn't been done a thousand times, and yet it works. That's interesting to me and sometimes I just get tired of thinking about how to stand out or "be original" and I just enjoy a simple car built right. Red wheels are over done but when done right they work!

That's the whole point of hot rodding to me. The end result is does the car work as a whole. Not the "I'm just trying to do something so I will stand out or get attention" mind set.

That Model A on 32 rails a few post's back proves my point. Nothing groundbreaking but a nice clean build. I'd drive the hell out of it and so would 90% of the people who talk smack about other peoples cars...

  19. Who says wheels should be red?, I think any color alone makes a nice difference. Like on my 60 caddy I painted the wheels mettallic hammertone, copper which matches the rust on the car. along with spray on wide whites and some chrome lugs I think they look pretty nice....

...somebody suggested the color of the top with a red pinstripe...:D, I just wanted to see what it would look like...

  24. Apart from anything else, I find it hard to believe that anyone would start a post just to request pics of cars with red wheels, like they're rare or something?

Isn't this a car forum? I didn't ask to see peoples deer heads hanging in there living-rooms! This is a forum about cars, whats the deal? Man you guys are just something else. I'll probably just end up painting them. Its not gonna be an amateur paint job either. My buddy is a car painter and he's gonna do it so it will look nice.

    That's funny!
Without the hubcaps,it DOES NOT look right.

The only thing I'd change, would put the '63 caps on.
