Event Coverage Gene Winfield Lands in Milwaukee

So around 5 pm Central Standard time one...Gene Winfield lands in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Casey takes him directly to the Nite Owl and is welcomed by a few of us. This is one experience that I will never forget. He is honestly one of the greatest guys to talk to. If first impressions are any indacation of what this weekend will be like, I can't f'in wait. Here are some pics just to tease. I will post more from the class when it's all said and done.

He is a great guy, he talked to my dad who still cooks at the resturant every day at 70years old, for about a half an hour. A true custom hero. He bullshited about his growing up and family being in the resturant buisness. He even made it a point to say a special goodbye to my 3 year old niece Clara. Gene if you see this.....you can have all the pecans you ever want at my place!!!

The guy is absolutely awesome. Hung out till about 11p.m. last night and discussed everything a from his father in law Clarence " Kelly" Johnson who was lockheed's chief engineer and sr-71 p-38 lightning developer among other stuff---to the amazing talents of our buddy "Tito" Barris!!


Oh yeah and I stripped the paint off the roof of Casey's merc-- I am still in wonder about how a car that old is still that pristine.....good thing it's getting chopped .

What a honor to spend time with such a legend and especially to have him look over your car. Wish i could go to the chop, maybe ill be able to catch up with you good lookin fella's saturday night or something. Cant wait to see the chop all done.

After the class there is going to be a garage crawl to see some of our junk. Hey I know Milwaukee is not the center of the hot rodding world but this weekend is going to be pretty cool. Maybe there will be posts of guys wanting to move here!!!!
