OK, Here's the news! Joe wants to do the event, I need to get together a cost of services and set down with him. The guy is down to earth and wants a quality show and don't want to rape people at the gate. We need some fundraiser ideas as he is just a working stiff like most if not all of us. Please give me some ideas, I'm thinking of a raffle and have some ideas on the prize. I'm thinking of a $1000 item for a $10 ticket, with the ticket stub doubling for a general admission ticket when the event happens. Now if we don't move enough tickets the prize will still be awarded BUT we may not be able to cover costs of he event, which would mean no event. The ball is really in our court!
I also talked to him about having a gathering of 50's Hot Rods and Customs at the Fly-in. I'm thinking 6 to 10 cars if anyone is enterested on June 13th, check the photos on the http://www.eaglefield.net/ website, they get into dressing the period. Come on WEST COAST this is our opportunity, let's get together and make it happen.
P.S. I'm thinking we could do the event the 1st or 2nd weekend in October.

 

October weekend of the 10th is the Kingdon Drags Reunion in Lodi, and then on October 16, 17, 18 is the California Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfields at Famoso Drag Strip. Scheduling your event before these two might be better.

Seen Rocky today at the Cherry Swap....he had the HAMB Rail there and drawing people into this cool event.

Wicked', Eagle Field is 10 miles south of Dos Palos, (north of Nees) at Althea and Russell. I believe there is a Nees exit off of I-5, go east to Russell, north on Russell to Althea then west on Althea and you can't miss it. I'll verify the directions next time I'm out there. I want to thank you guys for the support, we can do this. I plan on attending as many car shows as possible with the HAMB Dragster this summer so let me know of any shows. Rocky

I just got off the phone with Lodi, the Return to Kingdon event is on Oct 3rd and 4th so I'm now thinking of October 10th. Let me know of any other event conflicts.

 

The Lowrider Super Show in Vegas is the next day (Oct 11th) but I doubt that it is of interest to anyone here LOL

 

Thanks Wicked, I'm thinking Oct 10 is our date unless someone has something to offer, I need to decide. I need California car show dates for this summer, so I can bring a display and get the word out and sell some raffle tickets . I have some great news I'm working on for the Raffle! Rocky

 

Hate to rain on your parade Rocky, but the California Hot Rod Reunion is that weekend at Famoso. That might effect your turnout.

 

The Famoso website says October 16th thru 18th. I'll double check. Thanks Tom

You're right on the date Rocky.......don't know where I got the misinformation, but I had it marked wrong on my calender since the start of the year. Glad I didn't make reservations.

 

How would this be for a 3 round match race show?


"Stormy" Byrd loves to put on a show and would bring both cars shown, run em in high gear, for a tire smokin show!

 

Just caught wind of this. Absolutely will be there. Just gonna have to adjust some anniversary plans. Looks like this is the year I take it back!
