Although I was somewhat disapointed in the show, I would like to share the pictures that I believe are HAMB friendly.

OK, I' ve gotta ask; what's with the oil next to some of the cars??

  7. Advertising ?

  8. Did that show change hands ?

Seems strange to change the name of a show
that has been running for probably 20+ years.

  9. Motion became Performance World and then Motion just got resurrected again as far as I can tell.....

  10. Dizzy Dean sold Motion, which became Performance World.
I assume Dizzy kept the name.
Dizzy passed away a couple years ago, IIRC.

Which doesn't explain why Speedorama got changed to Motion.

  11. Speedorama is usually held before Performance World. Did they just come up with another car show held in the same place?

Thanks for sharing the pics, some nice cars there. Looks like the show was pretty small as expected.

Gary Wallace, the guy who ran Performance World years ago, and then Speedorama, bought the rights to the "Motion" car show name from Dizzy Dean's widow, apparently. That's the story I got from my brother, who works at Horton Hot Rods.

    cheers

The show was alot smaller then I expected. Not that many vendors, and to many of them trying to sell you snake oil. Was still nice to be around cool cars which is a sign that spring is in the air. Weather in Toronto was perfect.

If you want the right answers go to the source, the oil in front of the cars is part of the goddy bag from Quaker State and must be displayed in order to receive consideration for the awards, Yes the show was Speedorama and was ahead of the other but with the economy and the short turn around in a new partnership it was decided to go this year, holding back would have endangered the sponsorships involved. Dizzy gave me the name two years after he sold the show to the original owners of pw, they didn't like the name, this pissed Dizzy off, I did not buy the name from Dizzy's widow, the show was not small the building held 180 cars in competition, just short of what the other show had in all of it's buildings, Motion gave out the largest cash package in Canada $23,000. in cash, find another show that did that.Like I said go to the source for the answers not the rumor mill. thanks

I think that I found pictures of the Merc I've been wondering about for years.

I saw this Merc in Ft. Smith, AR years ago at the KKOA Hangin Dice event.

How did the Merc look any more pctures??

I guess so. I attended Performance World last year and that show was much better.

Just to add to the mix...and this comes from very good sources...its not that pw did not want the Motion name, Dizzy infact wanted to keep it himself, that was part of the deal. And pw had a ton more cars, it was confirmed by a staff member that they had just over 300 in their first 4 halls alone and another 165 in the tuner hall, my math tells me that way more than Motion. But Motion did have nicer cars then the last time I went there. Oh and lastly, pw gives out over $50k in cash and prizes...just an fyi. Take it or leave it...and like the other guy said, if you're unsure of my stats, go to pw directly. They have always been way open sharing their stats.

I'm glad I didn't waste $20 on either show. We can see the same cars this summer at cruise nights.

Yeah, and Waterdown is right around the corner.

I've never been real impressed by these shows.

You are right about seeing some of these cars at cruise nights, but the high dollar cars usually don't even drive much outside of being in trailers going to and from big shows in the U.S. and Canada, so I'm not sure where you're seeing all these cars at cruise nights. Some of us still believe it's important to support these indoor car shows especially in the winter/early spring months to give us something to look forward to...but to each their own. As long as you're enjoying life!

  28. Ya I look forward to Performance World. Its a sign spring is coming.....
