  3. In our area during the late sixties the dark olive green metallic on GTO's was popular, and you are seeing every car manufacturer has a shade of olive metallic on new cars today. Lime green/gold metalflake has always been one of my favorites applied correctly to the right rod. An article about car color studies stated that car colors used by companies are related to the economic times. Go green!:D:rolleyes:.

I like most colors and do mix it up just to have some varity. I went with a green mix for my 46 coupe and this shade of green I really liked. Its nothing fancy and will touch up well if and when the time calls for it.

  8. Back in the '50s and early '60s green was considered to be bad luck. You would never ride a green motorcycle or drive a green semi truck. Heard that green race cars were bad luck also. If I had to choose, I would rather have a green car than a pink one, unless its that green/orange rpu!

I like how the wheels are the body color.. thats cool.. im looking into getting some gennies for my truck... I think Ill get the chrome outer and raw inner and paint the inside that color to match the truck...

Another thought I had was painting the roof a pearl white and the wheels a pearl white.with chrome outer.

How's this for green? It's Meglite's 60 Impala. It's what we're taking to the Lonestar Roundup.

While there have always been some green hot rods and customs, I don't recall their number ever being too large. For production cars, on the other hand, shades of green were very popular from the mid-60s into the early 70s.

My coupe was a few different shades of green from '67 when I had it painted the first time, until the late 80s when I changed the color to blue. I did see some other green cars, but not herds of them like you do with black or red. I have to say, some of them look really good.

  25. The guy who painted my Deuce faught me tooth and nail about the color, said nobody painted race cars green "back in the day", it was bad luck. Well, wife picked the color, we liked it (still do) and the paint was applied. After the fact, the fella said: "gonna have to paint a roadster that color !"

  27. Art Arfons didn't think green was an unlucky color (back in the day as some have stated).
Matter of Fact he broke 3 land speed records at Bonneville using different versions of the GREEN MONSTER.
Then went on to build some badass Tractor Pulling Tractors called GREEN MONSTER that won a lot.
The car in my avatar, 60 Comet, is actually the stock color of a very light green.
Looks almost white, but actually has a green tint with a darker green interior.

The tailgate pictured is one that I bought off ebay... liked the color so much I thought I would go green instead of black.
